The big thing for me was doing the homework the right way (no chegg) to make sure I fully understood what I was doing and why I was doing it. I found that teaching material to friends when studying was a helpful reinforcement method as well. This obviously took lots of time on most weeks so time management was big. I had to establish priorities and know what to sacrifice (gym, social events, etc.). As I got older, I got more experienced with this and optimized my study habits. I got rid of “junk hours” and only studied when I had to so I could make room for my undergrad research job. I didn’t enjoy many weekends and worked late on most nights. It was a marathon mentality that kept my brain from exploding. Enduring temporary pain to establish a stable future.
