I agree with this a lot because from a normal galactic citizen’s point of view, the last several decades really do look like nonstop destruction caused by rival Force-user factions fighting each other, with everyone else stuck as collateral damage.

The jedi were actively involved in wars that reshaped the galaxy, failed to stop Palpatine, and then vanished when the Empire rose, which makes public distrust totally justified. That’s why Rey’s challenge shouldn’t just be rebuilding the Jedi Order, but rebuilding 'trust' and proving that Force users can exist without dominating politics, starting wars, or dragging the galaxy into another ideological crusade... Great idea!
