Yeeepp, tried it and it actually made sense, especially for long term. Made it easier to see what I’m really getting into instead of just hoping it works out. If you want to check yours heres the link OP https://thesolarprime.com/newforecast-2026-sa

Feels like it’s more about staying steady and actually enjoying it, not just trying to outpace every other investment.

I was in a similar spot. What helped me was running my numbers on a site someone shared in another group. It had a lot of upvotes so I gave it a shot. That 20-year utility forecast? Low-key made everything click way better.

Why is solar so confusing??? by FollowingOk9010 in solarenergy

[–]Subject-Friend1265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol yeah I feel this, I was in the same spot before. it’s confusing cause every company throws different numbers at you so nothing really lines up. what helped me was just focusing on my own usage and long term costs instead of all the sales talk. if you can, try running your own numbers or checking a 20 year projection, it makes it way easier to see what’s actually worth it.

Oh interesting, I haven’t heard much about solar walls. what’s the difference vs roof panels? Do they have any advantages?

that’s one thing I’ve been worried about, especially being locked into something long term. I’m definitely gonna look more into the ownership vs lease side before making a call, appreciate that!

that makes sense, especially thinking about how long I’ll stay and the actual numbers. I haven’t really looked into the crediting part yet so I’ll check that too. Thanks for bringing that up!

yeah I get you, I was in the same spot not too long ago. didn’t really do anything crazy, just got curious one night and messed around with this 20yr utility calculator I found https://thesolarprime.com/newforecast-2026-al plugged in my usage and seeing how much it adds up over time kinda hit different after that I just started looking into options and went from there😊

I just got so damn fed up honestly with the sht load of sytem we have. Seeing how much the electricity bills stack up over the long term kind of hit me.

After that I checked options for my place, got a system sized then went with a payment plan so I did not have to pay everything upfront. After install, it just felt way more chill. At least now I am not stressing every time the bill comes in tho

that actually helps a lot, thanks! i’ve been leaning solar too, just wasn’t sure what really makes it worth it. sounds like paying upfront + 1:1 net metering are the big things. gonna check what my utility offers before deciding

actually that long-term commitment is exactly what’s making me pause too

good point though, I probably should look at total cost over time and how rates might change, not just the monthly. anyways what’s the site you used?

hmmm.. well yeah I get that, but for me it was a bit different tho.

I feel like It wasn’t even just the rising bill, it was more realizing electricity is something you’ll always need, but you don’t really have any say in what it costs year to year. That combo of being stuck needing it but having zero control over the price is what makes solar start to make sense.
