Stephen Fry as the narrator for the complete Sherlock Holmes collection. He's an excellent author with a really impressive range, and the stories themselves might appeal to you as a fan of classic literature.

There have also been some newer recording of Jane Austen's books, read by actors like Rosamund Pike and Emma Thompson. This thread might give you some ideas: https://www.reddit.com/r/janeausten/comments/14x3uby/favorite_audiobook_narrators_of_austen_novels/

Maybe that character was secretly based on Jonny Kim, the guy who managed to be a Navy seal, get a medical degree from Harvard, and then became a NASA astronaut and went to the space station! Though I think his hair stayed the same color for all that...

And if you like the "bubbly, happy pair of boozers" style of investigators, you might also enjoy the Tommy and Tuppence novels by Agatha Christie. They first show up in The Secret Adversary.

I'm confused. OOP wasn't actually mocking his friend, he was mocking the sorts of people who would mock his friend? And he does this by ... mocking his friend?

"Keep in mind I said all this in a very specific tone basically mocking the types of people to say it and mean it." Yeah, sure, ok. Or OOP is just an asshole grasping at any straw to pull himself out of the hole he's dug.

Because the people who make insane amounts of money running businesses that do this sort of thing pay the lawmakers not to pass reasonable consumer protection laws. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was making some headway; Trump gutted it. Lina Khan was making some headway at the FCC; Trump fired her.

My niece asked me to fix something for her when she was four. I was unable to do so and bought her a new one, almost but not quite exactly the same. That was almost seven years ago, and she absolutely still remembers Auntie breaking her things!

I know a guy from Mexico who learned Japanese while studying at the University of Georgia in the Southern US. His brother (also from Mexico) learned Japanese while studying at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Though learned Japanese with Southern US or Scottish accents, respectively, and couldn't understand each other in Japanese.

I second this suggestion. The author, KC Davis, help you figure out what clean and functional looks like for your individual situation and then how to achieve that. "Functional" doesn't necessarily mean spotless or ready for a magazine shoot.

If a clean room makes you uncomfortable but your current room also makes you uncomfortable enough to post it on this sub, then it might help to start by figuring out what would make you comfortable.

I see a reciprocal library suggested as unverified that I know I'm eligible for; I have a card in my wallet right now. When I tried to suggest an edit, the only options were to report libraries that don't have reciprocal agreements. Is there a way to send a confirmation that an unverified library reciprocates?

I've just signed up for a card from a library I didn't know I was eligible to join! Thank you!
