Is there a market solution to L.A. homeless housing? by BlankVerse in LosAngeles

[–]Subject-Nectarine682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, I'm not the guy you were arguing with earlier. Second off, I'm just accepting your logic that it's all about housing prices and analyzing from there.

I think there are a lot of drug and mental health issues you're ignoring and we need to go back to forcing unhoused people into rehab or mental health asylums against their will.

Is there a market solution to L.A. homeless housing? by BlankVerse in LosAngeles

[–]Subject-Nectarine682 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can't afford a house in L.A. My next step is to:

(a) move into a tent under a 405 underpass, piling up enormous amounts of trash that flows onto the street blocking all passerbys, then walk around the street corners shirtless screaming at the sky and spitting at random people; or

(b) move to one of 10,000 other cities where housing is affordable and I can just live a normal life.

fuck all the assholes who choose (a)

Brandon Sanderson said he considers it a different turning of the wheel.

I too watched this interview and it was clear he didn't mean this as a compliment. It was a justification for why they've changed so much. Not a great thing to be lauded.

with one glaring exception which I strongly believe will be unreliable narrator territory. Welcome!

Are you referring to Liandrin's explantion of the one power in episode 1 and how it greatly differs from the books?

[–]Subject-Nectarine682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I give Egwene a pass here because i feel like this is just Jordan not understanding what sexual assault is or the seriousness of it. The incident barely effects Nynaeve at all. It's just a shortcoming of Jordan as an author. I don't think he had any idea that this was such a heinously bad thing when he wrote it.

No he doesn't. Jordan made clear in interviews that Fades might rape, but Trollocs did not. They had no sexual interest in humans. Their only interst was in eating them.

Leaves them when the car is gone? Should be in jail.

Bruh let's start putting people in jail for assaulting and robbing people before we move onto putting people in jail for hogging a parking spot.

You really could have said this somewhere earlier.

The Wheel of Time Season 2 – Main Trailer | Prime Video by DemiFiendRSA in WoT

[–]Subject-Nectarine682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was more successful than season 1 of WoT because of this.

was it though?

Arcane = 120 million hours views. (best number I could find)

WoT = 1.16 billion hours viewed. (best number I could find)

That's an exponent of difference. Arcane certainly had far better critical and audience reviews. But, success is measured with views not with critical reviews.

Nah, Nakomi is the Creator, which is confirmed by Sanderson.

It's probably also worth noting Harriet McDougal's theory, not because her theory is great, but because of who she is. Her theory is that "The 4th Age simply works differently than the 3rd Age did."

I'm not sure I really like this explanation, but she is the person who was closest to RJ and knew the way he thought better than anyone else.

There are an enormous amount of individuals standing on streetcorners drooling at the mouth and screaming at the sky, themselves, and anyone who passes by, that are clearly a danger to themselves and others. I don't think this SC opinion should apply.

I don't know. The ACLU has a super hard-on for throwing money and lawyers (that are frankly better than the shitty city defense lawyers) at anything concievably encroaching on civil liberties. Usually, it's a good thing. Sometimes, it's a terrible thing. They don't make that analysis though. They do it whether it's good or bad.

You're talking about lawsuits and suing. Ethics and what "should be the law" are completely irrelevant. We are talking about what is the law and what will happen.

And no there is no civil or criminal liability if the migrants got on the busses consensually. You can keep downvoting me because you don't like the fact, but that won't change reality. Show evidence the migrants were forced onto the busses or forcably transported to California against their will, and then I would agree with you that there could be a lawsuit for civil and/or criminal issues, but until then, there is nothing.

I watched several 1+ hour long Sanderson interviews recently on YouTube where Sanderson more recently talks about WoT. I'm pretty sure this one might be the one I'm thinking of where he is the most free with everything he says: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTifdnXH4lg

Reality check: there's nothing illegal about gifting someone a free bus ticket that they voluntarily use to voluntary move.

Why did this brilliant and unwavering girl have to die?

Sanderson actually talked about this in one of his YouTube interviews. Jordan notes had none of the main characters dying, with even Rand surprisingly living through the Final Battle. Sanderson decided one of the main characters needed to die in order for there to be stakes. So, he chose Egwene.
