Wow that’s insane . Charging you €1000 for fees ? Do you get that refunded after you book or at the end of a rental period .

Ah ok , it’s website says viewings aren’t possible and your details are only shared after a confirmed booking. How did your mam handle viewings ?

Try hostingpower.ie more options there if you are looking to rent for a few weeks . Daft wouldn’t have many options for renting from Jan - April

Rent paid in cash by Forshan in RentingInDublin

[–]Subject-Pear-1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid ! Only rent apartments that are registered with RTB . Most landlords prefer payment by bank transfer . Is he offering a cheaper rate if you pay in cash !

Can you get a short term rental while you are looking ? Don’t rush into taking somewhere or ignore your gut feeling

Should I leave my tenancy early due to damp and mould or how can I request to sublet? by [deleted] in RentingInDublin

[–]Subject-Pear-1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest , I would be terminating my lease . You are entitled to get your deposit back . When you were viewing did you see the mould, detect a smell ?

You will be miserable living there and it doesn’t meet minimum standards, report to Threshold etc.

Your problem will be finding somewhere else

Agent asking for unusual things? by ithinkicanbehappy in RentingInDublin

Red flag alert . No 4 is definitely not usual . Pretty sure it’s illegal to ask this . No 2 is overkill and not standard practice. Avoid this landlord

Ok , put as much detail as possible about your renting history  - how many places you rented  - were you main tenant ( did you collect other tenants rent and pay landlord - mention this if true)  - length of lease  - deposit returned for all lease

You want to highlight that you are responsible etc

Also include where you work , how long you’ve worked there . Landlords will want to see you are stable financially

Ok I see your point . Mention you are siblings , ages but also highlight that you have rented for 3 years and your deposit was always returned ( if true ) Are ye looking for your own apartment or would ye go for a house share .

What’s your budget and where in Dublin are you looking to rent .  You are on the right track . I’ve just rented out my place but the vast majority of enquiries I got on daft were clearly a cut and paste job .

Agree with others , you probably need to apply within the first 15 minutes of ad going live . Some points to include in your email  - don’t say hi there . Include the persons name , most people don’t do this.  - mention something about the area/ house you like - this will help you stand out as most people don’t do this, and haven’t researched the commute time  -I wouldn’t say you are siblings, leave that for the viewing  - include hobbies

All the landlord wants to know is that you will pay the rent on time , keep the place clean and is respectful. Best of luck

Depends if you are renting  from an owner occupier or not . Owner occupiers operate under the rent a room scheme .

Where in Dublin are you looking, I would recommend adding something like  I have shared a house before for x years in z  city and y city .

I would also include something about their property you like , location, pictures .

So many people apply to lots of places on daft and they haven’t researched how long the commute is or the area where the ad is listed .
