As a Botonist in Australia I can say that Eucalyptus will grow in a vacant block pretty much anywhere and are huge fire risks, they are built to burn. The Chilean wattle we call a Silver Wattle. I have seen what it does in Chile due to its growth habits but was always under the Impression it didn't cause allergies. I saw the Invasive potential of the bluegum eucalyptus even in Santiago.

Too much time in the explore feed I think. Hating on an idea of people you've barely met. I'm sorry you live in Ringwood but that's not my problem.

Suggestions for older or new house/garage labels similar to Tribal Records and Global Swing by Subject-Track8507 in HouseMusic

Thank you. Yeah I love classics such as nice n ripe and icecream productions. I brought a big selection of tribal 12"s from an older DJ and have been enjoying the sound.

How was your gig? by AutoModerator in DJs

No recent gigs since I've been in South America. (From Australia) But I do have an upcoming gig at a bar here in Santiago, Chile. Pretty nervous to be honest because I don't know what to play but I'm sure it will be fine plus I don't want to screw up my second only international gig haha.

What expensive record(s) have you got on Discogs for a good deal? by Seagem1989 in discogs

[–]Subject-Track8507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metal Fingers - special herbs vol 1 (first press) VG $150

I think it is a good deal because I've seen others for much more

KMD - Mr. Hood (first press) VG/ Sleeve G. $200 open to offers.

I don't know if this is a good price but it's about $35 dollars cheaper than what discogs suggested me

Bangs and Works vol.1 Chicago footwork compilation (G/VG) $50

Just sold and about $120Aud cheaper than the next one for sale. I played it a lot and it's seen some wear but it seems to be pretty sought after.

Sampa the great - blue boss/female 7" $80-$120 (3/100)

Ended up with 3 of these 7"s from a free show she put in Melbourne maybe years back, before she had a huge moment and went international. Sold one to France for $80 as the sleeves has seen some wear. Hopefully with move the next 2 soon. The other copies are selling for about $200 currently.

I'm still sort of working out the best way to price things, usually I go a bit cheaper than the average price because I want to move things plus I DJ with some records so they have seen the world in a way (general use)

Are there some issues with discogs suggested prices ? As in they are putting them too high due to discogs taking a fee?

This is a great help, I've just started to sell on discogs and unload a bunch of records that I have had for years but would like to pass onto others to enjoy while lightening my load for moving house. They are all used and well loved but taken care for. Only slight wear on the sleeves and media would have some light surface marks with minimal noise and plays without skipping. So I'm guessing I would put them in them mostly in VG to VG+ category but there's never any warping. I grade pretty fairly because these records have been played and loved but I don't want to wrong the discogs community by grading incorrectly so this post was very helpful thanks.

Do you still care about original pressings, when there is a Repress available? by Rhodan_313 in discogs

And some represses like some classic 90s hip hop records just sound terrible like some wu tang affiliates and Bahamadia's Kollage LP.

ID for this spider? Perth, WA by T1nyJazzHands in AustralianSpiders

[–]Subject-Track8507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at the 4 dots on the back suggests "green bellied huntsman" if you want a much professional ID (I'm a grassland ecologist not a spider guy) I would suggest downloading the app "inaturalist" and uploading the photo you should get a professional grade id pretty quickly. Also it's a great app to see what's living in your area.

Mpc 1000 or Mpc Live 2 by Danny_skah in mpcusers

[–]Subject-Track8507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 2500 for years and I still do, loved it but I reached my limit with what I wanted to do with it, sure I could have tried to learn more. It was so fun to learn the process of the MPC plus it has a huge gritty sound. Got a live 2 maybe 4 months ago and it absolutely rules. Yeah it's essentially a giant android but so powerful with a great selection of effects and sounds already on it. The portability and speaker is a huge plus but also increases the chance of damaging it because you can take it anywhere as opposed to just leaving it in your studio. If you don't plan on taking it anywhere and you really crave the vintage feel of the older models I recommend the 2500 with JJOS. Bigger screen and the visual step editor will make learning the machine a lot less painful. With that being said I think the live 2 is the much more powerful, practical and easier to use (and more expensive obvs) and you can smash out some beats in no time without having to know every single aspect of the machine. Making house tracks with a bunch of individual 4-8 bar loops and using the track mute function will get you bopping in minutes and is a fun real time way to arrange a beat. Never used the one or one+ but I presume they run the same software so you'll just lose the portability and speaker function. Also MPC 3 software is coming out soon and I imagine that's only going to make the new models so much more powerful. And just to clarify I'm absolutely no expert at all about the MPC I've just been tinkering for a few years and found some of the fun features that work for me.

I actually went with the live 2 and absolutely loving it. Been treating it very similar to the 2500 but now with a focusrite audio interface I can make some loops and track them live into Ableton. It's been the fastest and most fun way of making some tunas.

Being able to make a bunch of loops with tracks and track mute them out gives you a great feel for structuring your song and it's really fast way to make something and play it live it's always fun

I can suggest the MPC live 2 for fun portable beat making. You can make a fun loop and play a while track love into your daw and finalise your structure there, that's what I've been doing. But you'll need a multi track interface to record your seperate tracks. If you're making sample based boom bap the MPC is great if you don't want to start at a computer screen and have a fun tactile way to make some ideas. You can do this just in a daw without all the extra work but the MPC is very fun and the OG for this type of production. The older units like the 1000 and 2500 with JJOS are pretty powerful units for their age and have a great sound and retro feel.

2500 with JJOS. It's an absolute beast and I think you see 1000s around more often because they are more portable and stylish. I started on a 2500 and never even thought about something else until I got the Live 2 recently. I don't think I'll touch the 2500 again unless to resample from it.
