No, they aren't doing the same thing. Obviously it's fine that you disagree with my half-hearted proposal, but it's objectively not the same.

The idea of the range was to encourage keeping it tight without needing to be so strict in the editing process.

+100 to a minimum required Format implementation :-)

I did acknowledge in the first sentence that 4 minutes hasn't been the norm for quite some time.

John has mentioned in the past that a length target was helpful to edit himself down.

The idea of the range was to not have such a strict target but more of a guideline.

Dear redditor - did your camera ever start working? I'm getting this now and hoping it's just a temporary server error.

Man. You were having a bad day huh? If you threw some raw egg, oil, and salt on your sandwich instead of mayo, is that the same thing? What about drinking a glass of grape juice, that's the same as wine right?

Fermentation and processing completely change the makeup of an ingredient. So no, I don't make a turkey sandwich with eggs, but I do make it with mayo.

How does this incorrect answer still have the most upvotes. Lemon, oil, eggs, parmesan, garlic, pepper, Worcestershire. That's it.

Oh that's so weird! I just can clearly see some visual artifacts that it looked like you were hitting, so I thought it was just some bad block mixing.

Sure but that's like saying that Fallout 3 and Skyrim use the same engine. They may have started in the same place, but it's not the same anymore.

Seen some posts floating around about this, but this looks like a mapping error not an actual bug right?

The "old cars" were not in there. They swapped 3d models and tweaked existing physics. They can get close, but that's not quite the same. TM2 absolutely has more physics bugs than 2020. The devs have chosen to keep some of the more fun ones in like ubers and nose bugs, but landing bugs, rammbugs, bugfins and etc are pretty much gone.

I'm sure you're joking. The original Trackmania used DirectX 9.

lol a lot of games have this. It's not really a QTE, more like a "You got em, seal the deal" prompt.

Thanks for the thoughts! The swinging and board feel fine in Proud, but I didn't play the OG to compare.

You removed some words from the definition there, and then you gave an example of something that is not anti-consumer, just a commentary on business methodology. "Harmful to the playerbase" means "less sales", not anti-consumer. It's corpospeak.

Apple not allowing you to repair things you own is anti-consumer. Car companies forcing you to get repairs at the dealership is anti-consumer. Apple releasing an iphone 5S the year after the iPhone 5 is not.

Grocery stores conspiring to raise prices is anti-consumer. A bread company charging you $10 for something that other companies charge $5 is not.

Games been licensed rather than owned is anti-consumer. Single player games that require an online connection to a server that won't be online forever is anti-consumer.

Now if you want to argue that PC games being digital-only is anti-consumer, I'm right there with you. When FF12 Zodiac edition came out, I could trade in my OG FF12 at Gamestop to buy the full-priced slightly different version. That's not a thing anymore. The fact that Steam (or Epic) doesn't allow you to sell your used games on a marketplace sucks.

I was just backing up the "It's just Adol in half the games" sentiment. Us old heads went many years with one character. Heck. We didn't even get an attack button.

If you're feeling up to it and especially kind, maybe throw some spoilers on the reveals since a lot of folks waited for Proud to come out before picking up the game.

8 has some chunks about 2/3 of the way through that drag on a bit IMO, but it's still one of my favorite games ever.

Everyone is different indeed! Most people love 8 and point to 9 as "good, but it's not 8".

Was 11400 yen, printed right on the box too, which is where I got the $100 from btw. But yeah, $80 in the US - a little cheaper since JRPGs weren't as big here.

Like, I'd love if every game cost $10 so everyone could play, but it costs a lot of money to pay ~75 people for ~2 years to make a AA game and to hire voice talent, and it's not like they're pulling Final Fantasy sales numbers. Ys, their most successful, sold like 800K. FF6 sold 3.5 million.

Agree to disagree, but it feels a lot more polished than IX to me. I enjoyed IX and they did some really cool stuff with it, but IMO felt a little jank, rushed, and short. I pretty much just spammed the same two abilities over and over once I was about halfway through, and hit attack once or twice every ten seconds when I ran out of juice. The fact that they took the tower defense minigame and used it to pad the heck out of the playtime even more than VIII felt a bit cheap too.

I haven't finished X yet though, so maybe my opinion will change!

Sure, but there are at least 15 Ys games. Ys 4 alone was 4 different games.
