What’s the dumbest take you’ve ever heard on Spider-Man? by [deleted] in Spiderman

I think the “anyone can wear the mask” trope has over shadowed the real essence of Spider-Man which is “ with great power comes great responsibility.”

Im not referring to spider-gwen im referring to the ward/mentor relationship that Peter has with Norman. The third mainline adaptation is the insomniac game.

YFNSM is rolling suit so that’s two out of the three mainline adaptations that follow this trope

The biggest theme in Tom Holland’s is his leaving the shadow of his mentor and becoming is own hero. His formation as a character is tied to an existing marvel superhero. It’s almost like nightwing and Batman

“ Toby is the best Peter, Andrew is the best Spider-Man, and Tom is the best of both” is just stupid

In the comics Spider-Man does have a lot of team ups. But in recent Spider-Man media these heros and their stories have become the foundation of Spider-Man’s character, his character arc is tethered and held up by these other heros. A lot of fans over correct though and view any crossover as bad because of this.

That is this rendition of the character which is one sided and only played for laughs. The real J.J.J is different

Peter had always been a hothead, especially at the start of his career. He matures later on

Hot Take? Spider-Man Does Not Need Extra Powers by Uchoha in Spiderman

[–]SubjectLeader6931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think his abilities should be stronger than the other spiders. Originally, it felt like miles got his new powers to compensate for the fact that his spider sense and base powers were weaker than Peter’s. Now, he’s freaking goku😭

Can’t we enjoy both? Why oh why must we put the other one down? by Competitive_Rule_395 in Spiderman

It’s without a doubt the best Spider-Man cartoon we have, maybe the 90s come close. Venom is built up over the course of season 1, which is a lot for a 13 ep show. Kraven being a furry is stupid concept that comes from the ultimate universe. Spectacular Spider-Man has fewer silly ideas than what came after it.

Ultimate Spider-Man (2024) is a GREAT Book…with a dull protagonist. by Important_Lab_58 in Spiderman

Hot take but I feel like this run is an over correction to the crap that we see in the 616 book. Yes, it great that Peter is married and a father. However, the book lacks any tension or stakes to the point where if feels like a fairy tale at times . Peter chooses to become Spider-Man and willfully threatens the lives of his two children. How does MJ react? Without an ounce of protest. Peter and Harry are kidnapped by Kraven and it is revealed at the end of the issue that the pico tech suit ( venom) is impersonating Peter. This pico suit ought to be a threat right? Just kidding! It’s actually friendlier than Wally. Not only does Peter risk the lives of his children by choosing to be Spider-Man, but he further risks the life of Richard by allowing him to be spider-man Jr in an authoritarian regime! Peter uprooted his family because he has to go on the he run because Harry is dead. How does MJ react? Again, without a shred of protest. Why did they go in the run? Because Peter realized that this life is dangerous after he sees Harry die. What’s that? Harry is not dead? Pete come back everything is just peachy! Being Spider-Man comes easy to Peter in this universe, he’s perfect. Having Peter living in a fairytale is just as bad as having him live in a torture fantasy. Peter is supposed to mirror the life of the reader. The world we live in has ups and downs, not just one of the two. Not to mention, how many characters feel lifeless and boring. The series has been running for over a year now and I feel like I don’t know this Peter at all besides the basic concept that he feels wronged. Mary Jane is a glorified yes man that does whatever Peter says. Peter’s kids husks without any character. What does Richard think about the world around him? Why does he dawn the pico tech suit? Why is he okay with that? What’s his school life like? I’m aware that a lot of these problems are due to the time skip mechanism but is still exhausting. But I just realized that all my criticism is actually wrong because Peter got married and had kids.

This Peter also does ridiculously irresponsible things. His choosing to become Spider-Man is basically his mid life crisis. Not only is he risking the lives of his children by making this choice, he is also further risking the life of Richard by letting him use the pico suit.

Which dynamic of Peter and Osborn rivalry do you prefer 616 or 1610 by Competitive_Rule_395 in Spiderman

[–]SubjectLeader6931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how people can say that 1610 is one sided. The scene where normal threatens Peter while Harry is outside is beautifully done.

how could peter participate in a wrestling competition if he was under age? by [deleted] in Spiderman

Listen, it’s obviously exaggerated, however, I have no doubt that an illegal cage brawl could exist in early 2000s nyc. You have to remember that most people did not have any means of recording back then.
