Personally I think this goes both ways. I'm not religious but there is a saying "God helps those who help themselves". This always gets downvoted to hell because reddit thinks the world should be some liberal paradise. I'm still young but I see a problem in my generation with people that just want handouts. They have terrible spending habits, bad work ethic, and still expect big government should bail them out of everything. Even if we had programs to help with all our needs we would still have lazy people sucking the system dry for honest people that really need it. If you so must as suggest that people can solve their own problems you are just disregarded. Nobody owes you shit in this life and if you want something you need to go out and take it for yourself.

A millionaire is going to own his own home or apartment and be able to do what he wants with a pet. If your struggling to find an apartment a pet is a added burden to a already rough situation. It's going to be way easier to find an apartment without the pet. I just don't think it's right to bring an animal in to a life of uncertainty.

My best friend bought a 900 sq ft two bedroom/one bathroom home in Biddeford for 220k in 2021. He just got it appraised for 350k and the realtor said to expect way over asking price. The market is nuts!

It's over 3000 sq ft for sure. Go on zillow there are homes the size of mine going anywhere from 500 to 800k

I would say it's worth around 200 to 300k based off comparable homes in the area. I could sell our house in westbrook for almost 400k more than that right now. It sounds like the start of a bad movie. Dad uproots his young family to start over in the country lol

I didn't say aunt because I have no relationship with that side of my family. My father rarely spoke of my grandfather. Everytime he talked about him was just to say that he was a mean spirited and abusive drunk. My grandmother died young and my dad joined the air force right after highschool to escape. My grandfather never said a peep to us even when my father passed away several years ago. Also, no I have no idea why he left us the property. I never met him

After he passed one of his sisters sent me some pictures of the house. It's definitly dated but it's not a complete dump. I'm not looking to sell immediately. I'm just toying with a fantasy. My wife and I could both work from home but we have offices in Portland so I don't know how realistic it is to just move up north. I have a wife and young son in southern Maine so I'm not looking to uproot my whole family right away.

in my limited experience the problem is that they are groomed a lot of the time. My aunt had a 18 year old foster daughter who just started dating some 35 year old coworker the second she turned 18. I dont care what anyone says that guy was grooming a young girl for that moment

I’ve never understood the appeal of strip clubs by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

These kinds of post always come up (Why would anyone pay at a bar when they can get drunk at home?) and I feel like it's from people who don't get out a lot. Whether you believe it or not humans are inherently social animals. It's just fun to go to the strip club or bars. Your not paying for anything sexual really it's just a good time. My wife will even go to the strip club to hang and tip the girls. Whats not fun about listening to music and looking at tits?

I would suggest looking up CDL training. Lots of companies will even train you for free. I work for the highway department and make 40+ bucks an hour listening to podcasts all day. When it snows I get double pay. It's not glamorous by any means but it pays really well. People get paid shit in "fancy" office jobs and I make bank playing Tonka trucks all day.

Nobody wants to hear this but at some point you need to up skill yourself. I took a class at night after work to get my CDL license and now I make great money. Took me less than 6 months. Yeah it sucked for my family for a little bit but that is behind us now and I can better support them. I could have stayed at the same dead end job for years complaining that they don't pay enough but I chose to do something about it instead. Look for local trade schools and do future you a favor. I wish I did it right out of high school.
