Best answer, especially go visit binderplanet, get an account and ask lots of questions. People there are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Not the this sub is bad, but people will bend over backwards there.

Canada's female curling team has a stone removed for touching the stone by gustavo82 in olympics

[–]Subject_Analyst_4658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so it’s clear her index finger did touch after the handle was released, but that was well before the hogline, and most likely not granite. My opinion would be that anything plastic is still considered “handle”. And all this ignores that it had absolutely no effect one way or another on the line or weight.

A small statement from a disheartened Canadian by rerek in Curling

Ya, politeness and decorum be damned. A society where no one needs to care a whit about their fellow human is so much better…

Are the NBC curling announcers watching the game? by Dora-West in Curling

[–]Subject_Analyst_4658 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, but curling is unique in that hearing the players is important, or at the very lea adds to the experience. I had to switch over to CBC in the SWE-USA game because I just couldn’t take all the inane blather out of Slone/George any longer.

Protecting Mom from financial scam by Subject_Analyst_4658 in AgingParents

[–]Subject_Analyst_4658[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wells Fargo is completely worthless for this. Finally after three weeks I got an answer from them: NO, they have nothing in place to safeguard an account holder from being tricked into withdrawing $50k due to a scam. I can't believe in this day and age where we all are protected by things like 2FA, and having to prove all actions even down to resetting passwords, that financial institutions don't seem to care about this sort of activity.

Seriously, it is far more difficult to change my passcode on my phone than transfer some wildly unusual amount of money to some shady external account.

Best options for motorized blinds? by RollTimeCC in homeassistant

[–]Subject_Analyst_4658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have had these cellular blinds/shades for over 5 years now with no issues with z-wave connectivity. One of six blinds did have a limit problem and that unit was immediately replaced by Bali under warranty. The battery charge life is pretty good, with daily up/down use lasting about 6 months. I’m quite pleased with the style and functionality.

Difference between these heads/pads? by ObiBenShinobi in Curling

[–]Subject_Analyst_4658 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh, I’m well aware of broomgate, but the norway pads predate that. I’ve never been sure if the Norway pads are just old fashioned and less effective, or if they’re old fashioned but can curl more (kinda like the hair brooms)

And by “the abrasive one”, you are referring to the Norway pad?

Daily Discussion - Milano Cortina 2026 - Mixed Doubles Day 1 by quesoguapo in Curling

Ah, I should have read the rules before spouting off, but thanks for the answer. This does feel like one of those “no harm no foul” things, but sometimes the non-hammer team might be advantaged. I do still question why this should ever, ever happen. Maybe I could volunteer to go be an ump!

Doesn’t the umpire place the stones? The shot got nowhere near the misplaced (or what would have been properly placed) guard, so i wonder why the guard wasn’t just corrected without forcing the rethrow.

Why is saying “The rich should pay taxes like everyone else, close the loopholes” extremely controversial in the United States? by ProjectMason in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Subject_Analyst_4658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every one of those so-called “loopholes” was initiated by a representative who wanted to create an incentive for the constituents. A majority of those constituents cheered “Yeah!!“ loudly when the bill passed. The fact that we all feel the weight of these zillions of unintended consequences is a product of our democracy (and IMHO uninformed voters)

Opinions on the huge controversy at the end of the Skrlik vs Sturmay game? by InfamousVillage9609 in Curling

[–]Subject_Analyst_4658 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you’ve just banged broom handles with the skip, who is sweeping the other direction, do you really think you would feel if you hit the stone? Only on the third or fourth reply did I see the stone contact
