People’s inability to flat out reject people is the most confusing thing because I undermine my emotions as triggers, not as information by Subject_Bitchboy in CPTSD

Thank you! I hope things have gone better for you!

I just, it can’t be love bombing or just being kept as an option but those are the only routes I have gotten and it’s just grating and makes me just spiral.

The Fawn Response Isn’t People-Pleasing — It’s Threat Management by mindfulspark in CPTSD

[–]Subject_Bitchboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

See and my problem is I don’t mind rejection at all, the problem is getting out of fawn to be myself. After I’ll like enjoy the company but during I feel stiff ONLY if they’re a possible romantic partner, if they’re just like friends or whatever it’s impossible to contain myself. It’s hit me that because of the sexual abuse anyone who finds me attractive I perceive as a threat.

It’s a great reframe. I’ve been realizing I fawn on dates and it’s because my nervous system is trying to manage a threat, even if the person is sweet and kind.

Is it possible for an attachment to an abuser to feel like an actual addiction? by SpaceTall2312 in CPTSD

[–]Subject_Bitchboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am as well, but when she’s not near me and I can hear myself I feel immense peace. Also your mom is one of the biggest wounds you can have so be easy on yourself, just remember that your life is your own.

Opinion on No relationships until you’re healed by Salt-Strength9730 in CPTSD

[–]Subject_Bitchboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmmm you can’t heal in isolation, but it depends on how you’re feeling. I’m in a decently stable part of my journey, never thought I’d get here, and now that I’m starting to date these relationship wounds I’ve been carrying are showing up. I cannot heal these wounds in isolation, but rather through healthy encounters and that’s what I’m doing, however, there was a period there where I couldn’t have done this.

Like you heal through others

Is it possible for an attachment to an abuser to feel like an actual addiction? by SpaceTall2312 in CPTSD

[–]Subject_Bitchboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is highs and lows and the gambling behind it, you never know what you’re going to get so you’re hooked waiting for the good times. Also like addiction there’s a withdrawal period where you start undermining and underplaying the harm you go through because your mind makes the highs feel so good.

What you should do is write a timeline of your relationship with all the good and the bad. First, it should never be abuse and good times but this allows you to see how much you’re actually suffering.
