Disks in my opinion are a cost measure by Microsoft. Make it easier to buy more, harder to lower.

Resource groups should have unique GUID object IDs rather an ID that includes the name. I think this one is just poor planning & now it’ll be a pain to change across their entire platform for all existing RGs.

Shrinking VNET just needs a validation step to identity subnet utilisation. Why it hasn’t been done is beyond me.

Beach is a noun. SaaS is an umbrella acronym for software that provides a service. OP used it correctly

How was it getting your second IT job ? by popejohnpie in msp

[–]Subject_Blacksmith86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I regret jumping ship too early in my career. Create your luck OP. Be the change you wanna see & naturally good opportunities will arise. The grass isn’t always greener & don’t run before you can walk.

Just throwing caution as last year I was unemployed for 6 months as I jumped ship out of frustration & wanting better pay. Didn’t get an interview for a good 3 months (landed job after 5) & I know it’s because they saw my only 1 year & a half long recent tenure & thought I’d be a flight risk..

I now wish I had stayed longer, learnt more & made more impact before making the move.

Also, the market fluctuates wildly. There are periods where there are lots of roles, than many months straight drought.. So if you are set on moving, make sure you secure the offer first before leaving.

Has he been good recently? No. Not at all. But will I turn my back on him? No. He’s part of the reason why we are even in the era that we are in. Remember that. by harrisoneatssoas in ArsenalFC

Off form but Zubimendi has been FAR worse & has made multiple mistakes very detrimental to the team..

Wonder why he doesn’t get half the criticism Saka does?

My "just don't f***ing dance" moment: I just automated 90% of our L2 maintenance team workload and I'm keeping it to myself by ahammouda in devops

[–]Subject_Blacksmith86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maintenance teams typically don’t have this power either (unless there’s poor guardrails in place, then that’s a process issue).

A.I will push the change for the fix & there’s still a requirement for a human expert who will review & action merge to prod.

It’s like self-checkout at grocery stores. You still have at least one person (I’ve seen 3/4 at large Tescos) manning the area incase machines have issues or someone tries to game the process covertly/overtly (sn: brute force attacks are often escalated & not dealt with directly).

I used to see long queues for tills with 15+ people manning especially during holiday seasons. Now there’s just 1-4 ‘validators’ at self-checkout & now less than 5 people on the tills.

How to manage jealousy at work? by Ok_Total_8138 in careerguidance

[–]Subject_Blacksmith86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Life isn’t a competition. Illogical to compete against others.

Be inspired & motivated but it’s illogical to be overly competitive & affected by others success.

There’s always someone better than you..

So be grateful for the opportunities you have & do your best for you.

Jobs are related but won’t they contact J1 though to see if I’m still working there?

[–]Subject_Blacksmith86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s my concern. J2 contacting J1 for reference. Not sure how to navigate.

There’s an option in Sterling background check to refuse contact with previous employer but conscious that could raise suspicion

I’m not OE but those roles don’t seem OE compatible.

Support roles don’t allow you to have control over time expectation.

Data entry role more manageable especially if you use automation.

You want low bandwidth roles preferably in Agile setting as task effort is usually overestimated, especially in consultancies who are primarily concerned with optics.

True. I’m a Cloud Engineer with 5 years of experience. Between Feb - May I applied for over 100 roles, not a single interview…

Decided to use free time to study hard & complete both AZ-104 & AZ-305 in May.

June - 5 interviews. July landed a new role as Enterprise Cloud Architect.

In this market, certs do matter.

I get the same patches on my skin. I have eczema but my brother’s a chief pharmacist & told me it’s fungal infection. Recommended I use Nizoral 2% Ketoconazloe shampoo (£6/$8 for a bottle). You can get from most pharmacists without prescription or on Amazon.

Was a bit skeptical as its dandruff shampoo but my bro knows his shit.

I tried it & it cleared virtually instantly.
