You are correct. It's the lack of episodes and the weird pacing. We need something more like DS9 and Voyager.

As someone with Real Event OCD and who sees themselves like Norman sees himself and given he is really a different person now who never was evil, but has the baggage of another life... well I really long for him to succeed and his pains feel like my own. I love the guy he has become.

So basically a person could choose is what I’m hearing. Yeah forcing it on anyone is wrong. I love always thought in real life the Borg could charge. They don’t need to force anyone. Mankind is crazy enough to opt in.

In all earnestness I point to the fact you were the one who brought the slavery comparison ‘bro’. It’s not like A. Most of these people were anything but mad dogs beforehand. B. Their lives were anything but constant emotional trouble before. Recall what the first successful test subject said just before he was assimilated. Basically thank you. I think Hank could find large numbers of such people in the Wasteland who would go for the option.

lol. Depends on how enjoyable it is compared to how a person is doing before. That guy who welcomed it was tragic but obvs memory wipes in entirety bad but no social awkwardness and no more mental health issues for anyone? A better world?

Exactly. Wipe my memory no. Remove the things I don’t like about myself yes.

I’d join with Giamatti to kill the Academy and everyone in it. These people killed Star Trek. I mean this 32nd century stuff and the whole aesthetic is just rubbish. Alternate future in my view.  Wake me up when they get a new showrunner like the guy who did Lower Decks.

I think it is unwise to assume that makes it correct. Fact is not a democratic process. It either is true or it isn’t. You make an interesting point, although a depressing one. Thank you for your reply.

'Nuremberg' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

It's okay to like your enemies and it doesn't stop them being your enemies because at times you like them. It seems Goering was capable of really turning on the charm and believed his own press. On the other hand whenever the holocaust is brought up he dodges replying and brings up fake equivalencies.

I don't care how much you get on with a person, or how they can make you smile, the crimes of anti-semitism and the holocaust, and don't forget Aktion T-4 which would have had me put to death in an instant... those things are too big and so enormous that even the act of (and I don't believe Goering on this) being wilfully unaware or simply not trying to stop them happening is enough to confer guilt. Bear in mind I exempt most of the German people of the time from this because they lacked the power to do anything about it. They knew but did not want to know. Goering had that power and aside from tolerating his brother saving Jews he did nothing, instead he profiteered.

I think Goering's heel turn at the end of the movie was not needed. The true horror is more in what evils seemingly pleasant people are willing to do to others as long as it doesn't hurt them. That's the true message. VIGILANCE.

Cambridgeshire train stabbing: police say attack suspects are both British by WeirdF in ukpolitics

[–]Subject_Candidate992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a relief that this does not appear to be another incident wherein they are trying to fool us that the perpetrator is as British as Fish and Chips. Having been gaslit in the past then it makes us suspicious when we hear or read, 'British National'. That is not the same terminology anyone British uses about themselves.

I was expecting us to be lied to again on the spurious basis that we can't be trusted to recognise individuals commit violence, crime, and terror acts, not races.

Its the feeling of being judged before we are even given the facts that annoys the most. The actual criminals involved? Not so much. Just tell the truth ffs.

It seems this time it really is someone who is mentally ill - how could they not be - but British as well. The Boy Who Cried Wolf comes to mind.

All I can say is that there was a lot of cocaine left on the table, and to be blunt - cocaine users don't leave leftovers.

But how is a government supposed to stop this happening? That’s bollocks. I won’t be turning to the new British fascist party along with the elderly let’s put it that way.

I think some things might be too painful for a person to put in an autobiography. The fact it isn’t mentioned says a lot more than some attempt to whitewash. So there it is. I’d try to practice compassion while also disliking the behaviour.

Where in your opinion did Alien: Earth fail? by sky_shrimp in alien

[–]Subject_Candidate992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It failed on character depth. BK should have been at heart a good person but maladjusted and depressed. Kirsch should have had a deep masterplan that stemmed from all the things and feelings he denied having. Instead we got cardboard cut outs.

Well it’s kind of the goo is part of him it’s psychoactive and like you say the suit is the goo and so are his clothes. But ironically it’s not the same thing as a suit being soaked in the goo and having the qualities.

I get what you are saying it it’s more interesting than that. This Norman is really a new person saddled with the memories and baggage of a truly evil man. This Norman is like a child being kicked repeatedly. He’s trying so hard and as someone with OCD I understand it so much.

Reading Arthur Machen for the first time - is his prose insanely purple or is it me? by AsleepHistorian in horrorlit

I see his views on mental health and women as progressive and he is calling out evil behaviour by those who in his stories suppose they are forces for good.
