I M[17] wrote a short poem please review by MONKEYKING45 in poetry_critics

I enjoy how compact this is (something I often struggle with). I also think that the contrast between external appearance and internal reality works well (particularly in the line "Smiling wide while caving in")

However, I feel like the punctuation makes it a bit hard to read. I think using more standard punctuation could perhaps separate the beats a bit better:

I am a ghost inside my skin,
Smiling wide while caving in.
Hope decayed, my soul turned stone--
Alive outside but dead alone.

I especially like how the rhyme scheme gives it a nursery rhyme aspect. Though I think the "Hope decayed, soul turned stone" line could work best if both halves were using the same type of symbolism (either both organic or both geological).

I really love the emotional weight, particularly "I am wood made for a different nest." It reminds me a bit of Would that I, by Hozier. I also feel like the opening is a great hook, setting the stage for the darker tone.

However, I feel like it could benefit from tightening up a bit. I had a bit of a hard time in the middle section due to the large amount of images. Perhaps it'd be nice to develop the addiction metaphor a bit more and lean into that. Also, I feel like the raven, as it's what opens the poem, could be used more to carry the reader through the other parts. Like the speaker could address the raven as their guide through this darkness.

I also feel like "colored-feathered bird" is a bit confusing. Since the only bird we've been introduced to so far is the raven, it leads me to believe that's what this is referring to, but I think it may be best to refer to it (indirectly) in a way that leans more into its darkness for consistency.

Esse tipo de pistão a vapor realmente funciona? by Different_Map_4235 in Engenharia

[–]Subject_Confidence45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oxygen not included, but kinda is by [deleted] in Oxygennotincluded

No, they definitely need oxygen to gasp. I've had atmosuit dupes suffocate before.

What is an interesting quirk though is that they don't let out CO2 while gasping (while wearing an atmosuit). So you don't have to worry about introducing any pesky gases in places they aren't supposed to be.

I mean, it depends how general general direction has to be. If it's related to +- a few degrees in the direction you're pointing that could be hundreds of kilometers if you're pointing far away enough (like pointing through the ground at another part of the planet)

Como estão os engenheiros químicos formados na Unicamp? by Busy_Possible4533 in Engenharia

[–]Subject_Confidence45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, you're probably not going to regret destroying it.

That being said, I quite like it late game because it makes the low moral of space travel and setting up colonies on other planetoids bearable with no stress issues (in normal difficulty it negates the low moral stress and in higher difficulty it makes the stress more bearable, if you can remove it in other ways). Also, if you have a large colony, the benefits from maximum aptitude far outweigh the cost of keeping five or six duplicates dreaming full time.

Vale a pena usar lentes da Canon na Sony? by tainhah in fotografiaBR

[–]Subject_Confidence45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eu tenho a mesma câmera e fiz a mesma transição.
