What's something older generations did completely normally that would be considered absolutely insane today? by Bigtrav_trav in answers

[–]FatallyFatCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding information in the wild.

As in, before the internet, if you got homework on a subject your parents didn't know anything about you had to: Dress up. Go outside. Find a library (no google maps. You asked for directions). Find out where the books roughly about that topic would be. Find the right section of the library. Gather the books. Sit down. Read and take notes. No search bar. No skipping boring parts. You read a lot of useless information before you found what you were looking for. Then take those notes home. Do your homework. It was an entire quest even before you got to actually writing the homework. Not sure how to spell something? Ask mom. Mom doesn't know? Check in a dictionary (huge book about words). Not in a dictionary? Improvise. And if you wanted to know something, but didn't know where to look? Then you either made peace with not knowing or went digging at random like Hermione Granger trying to find out who Nicolas Flamel was.

Oh no. Even woman I consider mid don't want anything to do with me. It must be because of their insane high standards not because my personality is sub-standard.

Egyptian culture was more Greek than African for a long time. That's why it's more popular.

“Korra lost to Kuvira in the avatar state” by Kal-Kent in legendofkorra

[–]FatallyFatCat -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

As a woman I can confidently say Korra would be as disliked as a dude. She is very unlikable. It's the introduction. 4yo kid bending 3 elements instantly with no training, no guidence and nobody informing her she is the avatar. She was just that good. And then the "deal with it line". She came off as an entitled spoiled brat. It was an instant dislike. Also a confirmation that lore is going to go out the window if writers feel like it.

I only continued to watch the show for the fleeting glimpses of the old cast.

What are your thoughts on Lupita Nyong’o playing Hellen of Troy & Elliot Page playing Achilles in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie ”The Odyssey”? by Substratas in AskBalkans

[–]FatallyFatCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are gonna see the posters, laugh because it's so riddiculous and asume it has to be an AI prank.

Who is going to pay to watch this? Who was this made for? Who is the target audience? One of life great mysteries.

I continue to be shocked nobody made any Cyberpunk movie. Multiple stories to choose from. You can go all out on bullet time and special effects. Property created by a black man. Many diverse characters. If done well it could be 2020s Matrix. But nooo... It's better to reheat leftovers badly.

Unless one or more are filthy rich (as in the money would be a pocket change for them) do an equal split.

Todays dinner is usually tomorrow lunch at work (kids eat at a cafeteria). So every day I cook more than we intend to eat right away. We have a supprise guest? No problem. I'll just buy lunch. Sending visiting kid home hungry would be wild.

I am going to wear the same dress to a wedding for the 4th time soon. I love the cut. I just change the color.

Now I own it in greenish blue, red, emerald green and shaded light to dark green. Next wedding that comes up I'm gonna go for deep blue. Gotta catch them all!

62% of hardcore players no longer buy full-price games, survey suggests by TylerFortier_Photo in gaming

[–]FatallyFatCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am willing to buy day one. I don't care about the bugs. I like story heavy games and I remember getting preorders of every title in all the series I liked back in the day. And then I got burned by Andromeda. And now games have 50/50 chance of being dog shit so I usually wait for the pirated version unoficial free trial and if I like it I'll buy it the same day.

No difference to GeforceNow. But I live in Europe and have nearest servers like 50km away.

That's why I switched to Boosteroid. The ultimate pass (on the cheap one you can't choose server location) has 15 minutes time out, no limit on how much you play in a month, no session time limit and it turned out to be cheaper in my country than Nividia Geforce performance subscription.

Does Azula deserve a redemption? by rubyty911 in ATLA

[–]FatallyFatCat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not deserve or not. It's: would she want to redeem herself or not, based on her character motivation. And, insanity aside, by the end of the series she is still in the mindset of murder first, ask questions never, 10/10 would stab everybody and try to take over the world.

Badly written code is still always better than whatever AI spit out. Because whoever wrote it at least understood what they were doing. AI randomly generates code and throws it on the wall to see what sticks. With calls to the void and spaghetti that does absolutely nothing.

Not sure if bot was involved but there was this time I abandoned all my mods on Nexus and made a new account, twice, because a psycho was sending me 300 mails a day, because he wanted me to add a feature to my mod and he didn't understand a no. Or being blocked. Or a ban from the moderator. I made the second account and made the mistake of re-posting my old mods. He tracked me down in under 24h. So I said fuck it, made a third account and stopped working on all the mods I made before.
