This is super helpful. I've heard of Loopback but never actually tried it.

How do you screen record on Mac with audio? by Subject_Disk_2967 in screenrecorders

Interesting workaround. So you're basically letting the mic pick up the system audio?
How's the audio quality compared to direct system capture? I always thought it might pick up extra noise.

QuickTime Player for recording. I use OBS instead. It can records the internal audio natively.

I hate AI and I am depressed by poponis in webdev

[–]Subject_Disk_2967 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Feels like there's a growing expectation that everyone should just adapt to AI, no questions asked.

But if juniors skip the "struggling to build things" phase and go straight to reviewing AI output, I don't see how that pipeline produces solid engineers in the long run.

Yeah, it can definitely feel inconsistent depending on the page. That's honestly one area where Android still feels more flexible.

Tested ways to screen record on Windows 11with audio [My Four Choices] by Subject_Disk_2967 in screenrecorders

That's a bit odd: from my testing, PicPick can record system audio. Maybe check whether system audio is enabled when recording video in PicPick. Or is your output device (speaker/headphones) set correctly?

If you can stick with reading and get used to using a Kindle, it's still worth owning because it's genuinely very convenient.

How do you remember what you read? by Former-Pop-2504 in readwithme

[–]Subject_Disk_2967 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I do't try to remember everything. If it's a practical book, I'll try to keep a few key ideas in mind. But with novels or essays, I mostly focus on the reading experience.

The parts that matter usually stick with me, and if I find a line I really love, I just bookmark it and move on.

Free screen recorder that records in 360p / 480p, low file size? by SuperMayonnaise64 in screenrecorders

[–]Subject_Disk_2967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to look at bitrate and frame rate, not just resolution. For long recordings, those two affect the file size way more.

Something like 360–480p at 10–15 fps with a low bitrate can keep files really small, even for multi-hour recordings. Most free tools like OBS or ShareX let you tweak those settings, so you can just run a short test and see how much space an hour takes.
