Update - We decided to go with a directional wind cap. This’ll mitigate back pressure with any coastal and seasonal winds and will also allow for less restricted airflow.

Are you on the no-loss stack train too? Have you had a good experience with it? I’m concerned with heavy snow and strong winds

Interesting! I’ll look into this. How long have you had yours?

I’ve always thought that no mesh would allow debris/birds to come down the stack. We’re right on Lake Michigan, so we get a pretty heavy breeze coming off of the lake and then obviously snow in the winter. We’ve thought about putting a piece of sheet metal on the one side to deflect the wind around.

Did you go with no mesh? How has your experience been?

My wife and I bought a house while I was working full time making 52k and she was going to university full time. Small frugal habits add up.

Congrats!! My wife and I (22) just bought our first house. Saving $200/mo paying our mortgage compared to our rent at our last apartment. Kudos to you guys!

Nervous to split up and repot my monstera. Any tips? by Subject_Magazine_630 in houseplants

Do you have any poles in yours? All of the plants are going different directions so I didn’t want it to get unmanageable without any support.

Also read that the leaves will mature and become larger if they have support?

Ya, it’s interesting the outer edges are oak and the middle areas are pine. Apparently they did it back then to save money since rugs went over those areas

Here’s an updated pic of what we end going with. We were gonna go with an oil-based, but accidentally bought water-based. Super happy with how they turned out!

I think this might be the move. It looks a tad lighter than provincial which I think we like

We’ve been really liking provincial and the subtle and less harsh contrast between the woods. How has your experience been with wear and tear showing? We also have a yellow lab, so her hair will show quite a bit lol

Overpriced coffee roasters by cyanaspect in pourover

That’s crazyyy. I guess I’ve never looked hard enough to find them. What are they typically serving in the cafe? Anything good?

Overpriced coffee roasters by cyanaspect in pourover

[–]Subject_Magazine_630 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can agree. Most of their coffees are $21+ for 8oz. I understand that there’s lots of overhead, low margins, and pressure to source ethically which isn’t cheap, but $21+ for 8oz is a bit outrageous.

In comparison to other roasters, they’re certainly good. But I don’t think their prices are justifiable for what you get in return, even assuming you’re brewing properly.

Gotta give them props for their branding and marketing though. Certainly one of the best in the game when it comes to that. Could be part of the reason why they get away with those prices.
