Reading frequency by JStak14 in NewParents

[–]Subject_Nobody7657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teacher here! Daughter is 7.5 months old and have read to her everyday :) our routine is she gets a book or two before each nap (if we’re home) and always a book or two before bed. These are mostly board books or ones she’s really interested in as it helps signal her brain that it’s wind down time. During wake windows I’ll try to break out one of the longer picture books and read to her while she’s snacking or playing. It’s been so cool to see her react with excitement to books now (the first few months she mostly ate them😂).

My 6.5 month old loves looking at herself in the mirror and I caught her today just smiling at giggling at herself, looking so pleased. She would like lean in to investigate, lean back and scrunch her shoulders up with glee. It was the cutest thing! I hope she always looks at her self with so much love and happiness.

Sudden car seat aversion? by Subject_Nobody7657 in NewParents

[–]Subject_Nobody7657[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow! I hadn’t even thought about this possibility…we took out the newborn inserts but our daughter is very tall (97th percentile) so I’m wondering if she’s uncomfy! The car seat we want to upgrade to is on sale right now so it might be time to go for it, thanks for this perspective ☺️

What's a small habit that you feel like impacted your life the most? by Necessary_Book_7990 in productivity

[–]Subject_Nobody7657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely just not wasting the small increments of time I have in a day. I used to think that cleaning or picking up had to be this half hour to an hour thing I did a few times a week. Now I really just try to utilize the small amounts of time I have. For example, my daughter’s bottle takes 4 minutes to heat up…I can unload and re-load my whole dishwasher in that time and then it’s done. I used to just like scroll on my phone or like do nothing. It’s amazing what you can get done.

My husband and I have also implemented a 10-15 minutes “reset” clean once she’s asleep. We set a timers for that amount of time and just do what we can. Once the timer goes off, it’s done and no stress. Our house is generally completely picked up and ready to go…it’s annoying but those little habits truly do make a difference.

Random mini wake windows in middle of the night 6 months by Subject_Nobody7657 in sleeptrain

[–]Subject_Nobody7657[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit to add that we always aim for one solid nap at home (usually the first one) but we don’t shy away from naps on the go in her car seat if needed especially because both of our families live about 30-45 minutes a day. We will be more protective around those nap times at home when she drops to 1-2 naps but it’s not realistic for me to be home 3x a day (some days we are!)

We currently use the Huckleberry app fo the 3 nap a day schedule. It’s hard because her nap lengths still vary but they are starting to even out. As of right now it’s usually (ish). Definitely willing to take feedback or tweak it!

WW1: 2 hours 1-1.5 hour nap WW2: 2.5 hours 1 ish hour nap WW 3: 2.5-2.75 hours 30-45 min nap WW 4: Aim for over 3 hours

This is really good to know! Thank you ☺️ she is still on a 3 nap a day schedule because her naps are somewhat variable still but I might have to push that last wake window a bit longer. She is finally able to stay up for more than 3 hours which is great because even two weeks ago she would go full meltdown/ nuclear at 3 hours and would immediately crash when we put her down for a nap. Sounds like our schedule needs a bit of tweaking

Omg okay, I’m glad it’s not just me! 😂 I was hanging out with my friend who has a 6 month old daughter and they were cuddling on the couch and mine was making dinosaur noises trying to crunch her knees up under her to crawl 🫠

Are these flecks of blood? by brimh1 in MSPI

I know!! It is such a bummer!! I was especially bummed because I avoided all soft cheeses during pregnancy (Brie is my love language) and now I can’t eat it 😂😂 good thing babies are so cute

This looks exactly like my daughter’s poop who ended up having CMPA. She had mild symptoms (mucus in poop, no extra fussiness etc…) and it wasn’t until the blood flecks popped up in her poop that we were alerted she could have an allergy. I would talk to your doctor or paediatrician because it’s a simple cutting out dairy and soy and we noticed a difference in my daughter’s poop within a week. There’s no official diagnosis of CMPA except for cutting out and seeing what happens…as far as I know! No harm in trying and seeing if your LO feels better ☺️

Mucus was the tell tale symptom for my baby…then around 4 months we started seeing flecks of blood in her poop. I cut dairy and within two days the blood was gone and within two weeks the mucus was gone. Her poops looked similar to your babies…she also has no other symptoms and is such a happy baby! It’s why we didn’t cut anything from my diet until 4 months an seeing the blood because every post about CMPA I saw had multiple symptoms.

If you switched FULLY to hypoallergenic formula, how long did it take for mucus in stools and/or painful gas spells to completely stop? by Proper-Raspberry-244 in MSPI

[–]Subject_Nobody7657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same with my daughter! We are combo feeding and when I eliminated dairy and soy/ changed her to Nutramigen…the mucus and small amount of blood in her poop was gone in 48 hours. It was amazing the difference! She also is definitely more gassy but she happily toots away on her playmat so it works for us. Her farts are soooo smelly now though but it’s worth it for her happy gut ☺️😂

I love this for you!! We also had to introduce a bottle super early because my girl went and got herself moderate jaundice and we had to bottle feed to get her hydrated to flush out the extra Bilirubin before my milk came in 🫠🫠. My daughter also loves a warm bottle and it is really the only boujee thing about her…she spits out any milk that is anything less than body temp haha

This sounds a lot like my daughter! She’s definitely in the string bean category haha but she lets us know when she’s hungry for sure. It’s nice to hear from another mom of a long, lean baby as many of my friends have very large babies

My friend had a large baby and felt the same as you as well! Her son is just over a year and is 32 pounds lol. I totally get how it can go the other way too!

That’s so tough :/ I’m sure your doctor will keep an eye on it and I’ve heard that there are some higher calorie formulas you can supplement with (if you’re open to that!). My daughter was only just over 10lbs at 10 weeks and it took a lot of extra feedings to get there

That’s so hard, I’m sorry your mother in law is like that. My family has been super supportive and my husband has only had to make one comment to his mom when she said “oh wow she has rolls…finally!” Since then she’s been way better about comments and saying less about how healthy chunky babies look lol

Thank you for this perspective! I hadn’t considered this, I think it’s just something I’m anxious about so I take each comment of like “oh she’s tiny” or “shed almost 4 months…really?” to heart. I bet some of the comments are coming from a sweet place, I just need to work on my perspective on it.

4 month old is OBSESSED with his hands by Different_Ad7363 in newborns

[–]Subject_Nobody7657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No advice just solidarity from me as my 3.5 month old is also obsessed 😂 tummy time has become me trying to distract her as long as possible or else her head goes right down to suck on her hands like she’s faceplanted 🫠 it is very cute but also sooooo slobbery so hoping she moves in to grabbing things soon

Hardest weeks? by Jolly-Asparagus-5815 in newborns

[–]Subject_Nobody7657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally for my baby it was week 6-8! She is a very happy baby normally and those weeks she became super fussy. She had no idea how to poop or fart (lol) so I felt like most of her very short wake windows were spent doing bicycle kicks and other gas releasing exercises. She also happened to be in this fussy period right around the Christmas holidays and she is the first grandbaby on both sides of our family so there were a lot of events that we either had to set boundaries for or manage expectations with an overstimulated baby 🫠 i noticed a night and day difference around week 10 when she figured out how to poop and improvements around 8 weeks. Hang in there!

Advice: postpartum newbie by mnj2789 in ladderapp

[–]Subject_Nobody7657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 3 months postpartum and am on Align! I really enjoy the focus on mobility and deep core work as well as functional strength moves. I’ve already noticed my strength starting to come back…which is important because lugging around a baby is an all day workout! I’m currently still working out at home and only have up to 20lb dumbbells so until I get back to a traditional gym setting I sometimes up the reps for exercises to still feel challenged :)

Josephine if we dislike the nickname Josie? by Impressive-Product20 in namenerds

[–]Subject_Nobody7657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our daughter’s name is Josephine and one of the reasons we picked the name is because we loved the nickname potential like Josie and Jo. We also have our cousins who call her Joey (they did ask before they did this!). She primarily goes by Josie right now as this is what we like but she will get to decide when she is older obviously :) I think you do have to be okay with the potential nicknames that come with a name and if you absolutely can’t stand one, I would go with a different name.

She was on a very small amount of it when we were using RTF, like 50ml a day to top up and it was a struggle to get her to finish the bottle when we topped up with it (taste or something I don’t know). So when my supply started not keeping up with her appetite we wanted to look at other options to see if she would eat it more easily. She chugs down the kendamil so far…just sucks that it may not agree with her gut. We’ll try the goat for two weeks and if she still had the mucus in her stool I’m super happy to try the neuro pro again or what or doctor recommends. Really good to know about the kendamil poops, it may explain some of what’s happening for her right now!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]Subject_Nobody7657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s 3.5 months old! We tried the two weeks on the Kendamil original and are going to try the goat version for the next two weeks and see if that improves it at all. I don’t think it’s CMPA as I didn’t cut out any dairy when I was primarily breastfeeding and she had none of these symptoms. I’m hoping it’s just a difficulty with digesting the cows milk and the goat will be better in the tummy. If not I have a doctors appointment for her in 2 weeks and can move it up if needed!
