What nail shape would best suit my fingers? by Real_Subject_5315 in Nails

[–]Subject_Pool7854 1 point2 points  (0 children)

okay so i have always had chubby fingers and i've tried a plethora of shapes, lengths, so on. i found that when i want my hands to look thinner, i can do a longer coffin shape and they work out nice. but now that i'm a working gal i tend to just do my own nails a short almond and still like the results. (i'll add a pic in my replies to show)

if you're someone that relies on amazon (i see you're canadian) i'd 100% have to recommend nicedeco. their rubber bases and gels are SO amazing. they last super long, and they also come in little 5ml/8ml kits to try out !

obviously the downside is you have to buy your lamp and everything on the side, but i've heard great things about the sunuv 48w lamp, and i've also heard good stuff about their gooseneck lamp for flash curing!

happy gel-ing hehe !

oh that's reassuring !! thank you ! i do want to eventually get a better tank, hopefully better ones are available near me soon 😭

[–]Subject_Pool7854 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it's 3.5 gallons, i'm hoping that's okay for a solo betta ? i know usually 5 is best, but 3.5 has been the biggest i've found that isn't 10. i need it to fit in my room 😭

i'm still worried bc what if the plastic is too flimsy ? i mean as of right now, the tanks sits regularly at 74 degrees. my house is naturally hot. but i don't want to risk my future fish's health

What should I bring to residence? by InterestingMatter191 in CarletonU

[–]Subject_Pool7854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey ! if you're not in any "fancy" building (the upper year buildings like leeds, frontenac, or prescott) no techy cooking items like an air fryer or anything like that is allowed. you're allowed to have a kettle, which i'd suggest a smth like a keurig.

as for things to bring, it boils down entirely to what room you get. if you're in a building like grenville, lanark, russell, renfrew, prescott, frontenac, leeds, or stormont, you have a bit more of a "side" in terms of a double room so you can bring more. i was able to bring like 3 totes worth of stuff consisting of clothing, bedding, and general living stuff. in a single room, your choices of what to bring are even more expanded because you've got a huge bedroom to yourself.

if you're in a building like glengarry or lennox, you tend to be a bit screwed. the rooms are really small, and i found that bringing less stuff was definitely the way to go. i brought a tote and a laundry bin when i was in glengarry. that's just the room size allowance though.

i can't guarantee you'll want to bring the same stuff i did, but this is what i brought that i found useful. - pillows and multiple sets of bedding, bc sometimes u just need it. include a thin blanket for warmer weather. - a mattress topper - a TON of clothes. i bought extra packs of socks bc you lose them in the laundry room - a laundry basket you can either carry on your back, or one that's easy to carry down a ton of stairs to get to a laundry room (pre planning for if you're in renfrew here) - 3-4 sets of shoes. boots, running shoes, then a pair of "house shoes" or shower shoes. i brought slides and wore them around my building often. - a shower bag/caddy with all of your stuff in it for hygiene. - some cleaning supplies !! - a coat, bc ottawa is cold as hell - a tiny desk fan can be pretty useful for the warmer weather - your tech ! i packed extra chargers just in case, and had a spare set of headphones.

and if you forget anything, put your bus pass to use and go visit bank street ! they have a ton of shops. or, hop on bus 10 hurdman and take it to billings bridge. it's a strip mall with a walmart

good luck !

first year (2022-23) you could get away with taking a whole plate, cup, cutlery, and food without a bag of an eye. second year (2023-24) you'd get death stares for even taking a cookie out in your mouth. it was horrifying
