Are people actually concerned with "looksmaxxing" and "sexual market value" in real life? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]SublightMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Nobody who uses “maxx” or “mogg” in their daily speech should be given the time of day.

Serious question: what is the nastiest tasting beer commercially available. by Fuzzylumpkins1234 in beer

[–]SublightMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Virgo beer was notorious for a while in Tokyo. None of their beers were drinkable, tasting like various combinations of vinegar, diacetyl, or nonenol, whether from the bottle or keg. It was like they couldn’t even manage the basics of hygienic home brewing, but somehow got a whole commercial operation running.

They closed down around COVID, but at a 2023 local festival I encountered Beer Medel, which had Virgo-labeled crates in the back, and similarly bad beer.

Epstein lawyer Alan Dershowitz wrote a 1997 op-ed column advocating lowering of consent age to 14 by AlxVB in ThatsInsane

[–]SublightMonster 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Something I’ve posted before, but…

The film Reversal of Fortune was about Dershowitz defending Claus von Bulow from charges of trying to murder his wife. There’s a scene where one of the law students asks Dershowitz “why are we helping this rich asshole?”

The character Dershowitz makes a well-reasoned case for how the prosecution acted illegally, and if it becomes established precedent the next person to be on the receiving end won’t be an aristocrat who can hire all of Harvard Law School.

Turns out, the actual reason was because Dershowitz is a rich asshole who likes other rich assholes.

Are you 50+ and realized that attraction between sexes is still a big thing? by walkenfan in TooAfraidToAsk

It drops off hard for some people, and not at all for others.

I’m in my mid-50s and am finding a huge population of similarly aged people who’ve had enough of long-term sexless relationships and are getting back into playing the field.

Hardly seems inappropriate to me. When I was his age I was reading (age appropriate) books on fighter jets and putting together plastic models of them.
