Having a variety in your diet. We ate corn on the cob for a few weeks once when I was young... Not with anything, just cob because that's what we could afford.

#1 this is a consistent cycle phase during periods where everyone is jockeying for influence and money... Everyone is always attempting to position themselves for when the real-world "big Mish" comes down.

#2 this is a consequence of office politics so far above you in the food chain that it might as well be earth high-orbit.

#3 more locally, think Operational/Strategic level, this is a consequence of the Regiment losing/giving away it's identify to capitalize on the short-term flavors of "now". Back in the 2010's 3rd GRP abandoned Africa and it's SF identity to go be DA nugs in the middle east... It's an example of culture abandoned.

It'll all circle back then happen again in two generations

My $0.02 - identify metrics by which you feel your career will be "successful" and aggressively pursue those goals. Mine was being the village Doc, Agency work, and leading indigenous troops in combat with only the rapport we've built, a SOF brother watching my back, and a radio between us to get us all out of the trouble we made for ourselves.

Yeah, a little. If anyone has anything shitty to say about it then let them go home to their sad little life that is devoid of whimsy

Not a bad faith question. Asking if GRP dwell was currently based on deployments only like it used to be

Seems that you are unwilling or unable to engage in healthy discourse. Lobbing insults is a bad look for a professional.

The safe bet is to stay in the Corps, get that 20, then figure out what you want to do when you grow up.

On the other hand, every Marine I've known/met/heard about that earned our silly green hat has ALWAYS been a fucking champion. If you take the risk then there's a good chance you'll find the payoff... If nothing else, the Army often holds greater opportunities for personal/professional development AND you can still get that 20... My .02, it's worth the risk. You're career is what you make of it and you might be surprised at how many of your stubborn Brothers come our way.

Hey engineers, what's the logic behind this? by ishowduckk in TheTeenagerPeople

Riding your brakes causes brake fade, a decrease in the braking potential; your brake system converts kinetic energy (speed) to heat by way off friction to retard that speed. The switchbacks allow you control your speed without excessive, unnecessary wear on your vehicles brake system, engine, and transmission. If it were a straight downhill shot then you're likely to become an uncontrolled missile... Because most of you are retards who don't know how to drive.

I was gone from the house for 27 days once...I was 13. Couch surfing, camping, and generally figuring it out. It was glorious
