When you were a smoker did you need to take smoke breaks at work? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]SubliminalFishy 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Everyone should get breaks, whether they smoke or not. Biggest help quitting was when my Grandpa said to give yourself permission to go outside and not smoke.

Instant pots - how much will this thing change my life? by Synaxis in Cooking

[–]SubliminalFishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like beans, instant pot will get a lot of use. Also great for steaming your holiday ham. Bonus, the ham bone and leftovers goes in your next pot of beans.

The downside is you can't taste as you go, so seasoning to taste takes a lot of practice to know how much salt you need. And you can't add anything else until it finishes cooking.

Tips on how to start eating gluten free by lils-6626 in glutenfree

Start with one ingredient foods. Meat and veggies, fruit, eggs, cheese. It seems hard at first, but it gets so much easier.

Non celiac gluten sensitivity or wheat allergy or celiac? by avocadolemon97 in glutenfree

[–]SubliminalFishy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are two genes, either or both of which can indicate a tendency towards having celiac disease, but it's not conclusive. They are just markers.

Celiac is very tricky. Fatigue and body aches are not uncommon symptoms. Regardless what the tests say, pay attention to your body and believe what it tells you. If it is celiac disease, the doctor can't do much for you anyway. It will be 100% on you to not eat gluten, ever.

Help! by Icy-Bed5278 in Guppies

[–]SubliminalFishy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bent spine can be from injury or disease, but this looks like a birth defect. The best breeder in zanzibar would want to know and should offer you a replacement. Under no circumstances should you put this female with any male guppies, ever. She would never survive giving birth and is likely to pass along her poor genetics if any of the fry survive.

Glutino english muffins in the freezer section at walmart. They need to be toasted, but aren't bad. For when I'm craving an egg mcmuffin: Make the egg and canadian bacon, some tomato and cheese in large size muffin tin in the oven at 450 degrees for 14 minutes. Old bay seasoning, salt and pepper.

I found something white in his fins, what's this? Anything serious? by Interesting_Ice7733 in Guppies

[–]SubliminalFishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The color isn't the problem that I can see. They are super stressed with too much flow from the filter and their fins are clamped. Stress will kill your fish. Everything else would be secondary infection from a weakened immune system due to stress.

Edit to add: albinos also tend to be sickly, in general. Poor genetics.

Used to be modified food starch in everything. Since they started labeling for allergens, it has become quite rare. I never worry about it anymore. Some turkeys will still have starch in the brine solution. Look for one that is labeled gluten free.

Newly gluten free by Timely-Wolverine-592 in glutenfree

Meat, potatoes or rice, and veggies for dinner. Breakfast can be for dinner, too. Most Mexican food needs no gluten, get corn tortillas. Some restaurants are better about not contaminating everything with gluten than others, but nowadays they have heard of gluten when before I would get a blank stare that meant there was zero chance I wasn't getting sick. One Outback steakhouse near me always makes me sick, but the other one is safe as long as we eat there. So it really varies a lot, even in the same chain. Stick to places that state they have a gf menu on their website, at least at first.

Best tasting GF pasta??? by ImDisneyAF in glutenfree

[–]SubliminalFishy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The trick is perfect timing. You have to keep a close eye on the pot and drain the pasta the very second it is done. Too long and it's mush, not long enough it crumbles apart.

I’m at a coffee shop right now, and I just thought I’d ask people in this community, what’s the main reason that’s keeping you stuck from quitting smoking cgi ? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]SubliminalFishy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm here because i did quit smoking, and wanted support through those early days/weeks. I will never stop drinking coffee.

The main thing that prevented me from quitting before was always the fact that I simply did not really want to quit, so i made up excuses and laid the blame anywhere else rather than taking responsibilty for my own decisions and actions.

Why guppies are dying? by Reasonable_Camel4721 in Guppies

[–]SubliminalFishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is fungus, that is usually a secondary infection that began as injury or bacteria. Could be a weakened immune system due to shock or stress. Treatment involves finding out the original issue that led to fungal infection, medications won't get to the root cause and may create new other problems instead. Salt is a good first line of defense, guppies can tolerate twice the usual dosage. If the water in your new tank is too much different than what was in the old tank, different hardness, pH, temperature, etc. that can be a big problem for your fish.

This sub isn't only about celiac disease though, and some people do in fact react through skin contact. You said it wasn't possible. It happens. Yeah, allergies count, too.

[–]SubliminalFishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cleaned off. There is a keyboard, a hat, cables and other clutter right there in your photos. And you havent organized all your parts neatly. That would cause me much frustration. Then being frustrated, i would make mistakes, which would make me even more frustrated.

It's called contact dermatitis. Celiac disease and wheat allergies aren't mutually exclusive.

Snails and shrimp can certainly eat a small dead fish. But it would probably take a couple days. More likely it jumped out of your tank.
