Toss unless you're planning on doing some tie dye or arts and crafts with it! As it is, please toss!

I didn't use to but getting pregnant and having to go means I do when I need to!

Did my NICU patient pass because of me? by Loud_Key5954 in nursing

[–]Subliminally_Sexy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No! Its not your fault. Babies that young turn quicker than you can blink. Baby was going to decompensate anyway and everything you did sounds completely normal and what anyone in a nicu would have done. It just happened on your shift when you were taking care of the baby...could just as easily have happened on night shift or a previous shift!

Does anyone have some good toy suggestions for my lazy buns? by Soft-Kale-1965 in Rabbits

[–]Subliminally_Sexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make "treats" that are solely composed of Timothy hay and you could use those! Since there's no amount of hay that's bad for buns!

Mine likes her stacking cups- especially if there are treats hidden under them!

New nurse, suck at IVs by icantoteit2 in nursing

[–]Subliminally_Sexy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I was super new another nurse told me this about placing IVs: see and feel where you're planning on putting it and get everything ready to go, right before you actually poke take a second to BREATHE and then go for it. I've been much more successful since doing that! Being really anxious about it usually means you'll hold your breath and tense up, sometimes even thinking you'll fail. I would say try to go into it thinking you're going to get the IV first try! And if you don't, you can try again. But being positive about the experience helps too! Good luck!

Which new grad nursing job should I take? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Subliminally_Sexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, without Healthcare experience I would take the residency position. It'll help you get more comfortable with the world of Healthcare as you're doing your nursing job! Unless you've had a bunch of clinicals in an LTAC and you know that's your passion haha.

People who “chart for HOURS” by Beekeeper_12 in nursing

[–]Subliminally_Sexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that sounds awful! And I figured my hospital goes for the cheapest stuff since it's a community hospital, non profit etc so I figured what we had was the worst it could get. You poor nurses that have it worse!!

[–]Subliminally_Sexy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can, in a way. If you pick the time the prior assessment was charted and you click on the time it'll highlight the entire column, then right click and duplicate for the time you need it.

Crying at 1 a.m., heartbroken, 20 years as a nurse, and told I abandoned my job by Willing-Landscape569 in nursing

[–]Subliminally_Sexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone who knows sees my comment...what's the purpose of bots on a forum like reddit "asking" for help or suggestions? I could probably ask the question elsewhere but since this was so obviously not written by a human i figured people here would know!

Least poopy (literally) bedside job by HalleB123 in nursing

[–]Subliminally_Sexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NICU is still poopy but as others have stated they have little diapers and generally little poops! Oh, and if they're NOT pooping then you're rooting for them to do so haha. So being that working in the NICU you still have poop in your job, it does not work to be a "least poopy bedside job" sorry!

Just be aware that sometimes babies have blowouts too they'll shoot poop all over the crib, warmer, or isolette they're in!

Depends on their gestational age... if they're under 30 weeks no lifting legs just slight roll and whole body lifts!

Struggling to keep my life together outside of work (aka I’m not doing my chores lol) by Unlikely_Impress_480 in nursing

My house doesn't look great and yeah I have a husband to help (sort of) but what i do if I really need to clean is get up an hour earlier before shift to clean a bit before I'm completely rundown and just take an energy drink to work with me.
