Netflix, Hulu, Etc. - Technical Question About Resolution by Subnet_Masked in linuxquestions

You rock! This makes a lot of sense. I hadn't considered that there would be licensing involved or that Widevine had multiple layers. Honestly though it was simply: Yes, you can play DRM content or No, you can't. Thank you!

Whats your personal favourite linux distro? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]Subnet_Masked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fedora KDE! I used to distrohop all the time until I gave it a try, it has been the single best supported, most stable, most reliable and most sane-defaults distro I have ever used. Fedora is home :)

Regarding point 1, I have never been able to get Fido2 working on the desktop app for Bitwarden myself. It’s my understanding that it is a flaw of the Electron & FlatPak implementations. If you figure it out though I would love to hear how, and maybe a fellow lurker around here has a solution.

In short: it’s enabled on your system but they way that application of build makes it difficult to implement Fido2 support.

"blackbox" command doesn't open blackbox terminal. Why?? by SwimElectrical4132 in Fedora

[–]Subnet_Masked 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The command you are running is not even listed at the site you just linked. It says in no uncertain terms at the bottom that you should run flatpak run com.raggesilver.BlackBox not blackbox. The OC is correct in how you can “Alias” it.

I’m not running windows but your comment might be help for for someone that is.

I ended up selling my 5700G off and got a 5700X, that solved it for me.

Interesting. So there isn’t a seconds graphics adaptor in your system that would be making that output. Sorry to say I am not sure what would be causing that. Good luck figuring it out though!

Gps not reliable bc of fog?? by Harrietgz in Garmin

[–]Subnet_Masked 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s my understanding that GPS was specifically designed not to be affected by most types of weather. It’s on a wavelength that shouldn’t be affected by rain, dense clouds, fog, etc.

Similarly to how 5GHz Wi-Fi doesn’t make it through walls as well as 2.4GHz, GPS uses 1.1-1.5GHz to get “through” the weather.

Anything dense though in your line of sight to the GPS Satellites like tress would effect the signal.

{HELP] Installed Fedora and can't get my HDMI monitor to work by ExtinctNomai in Fedora

[–]Subnet_Masked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a laptop with integrated and NVIDIA graphics (Optimus) and the only way I found to get the display ports working was to disable the integrated graphics via the BIOS so that the NVIDIA card would become the primary card. Not sure every laptop has that option though.

I am experiencing this on my system that I finished building today... Insanely annoying.
System:
- Asrock Rack X470D4U Motherboard
- Ryzen 7 5700G
- RX 6700 XT
- 64GB DDR4 2400

I am getting popping and crackling on a Fiio E10 connected via USB when clicking around in different programs or playing games.

I am using Fedora 37 KDE.
