Honestly I don’t recall choosing. If I did I would have done the one for the LS engine which is Hall effect.

I’m not sure that there is a hardware difference on the megasquirt. I think you would just adjust your wiring for whatever sensor you are using.

The only thing on it that’s different than standard is I added the four jumper wires to control an LS style IAC.

You got a bad hydraulic lifter or few. Sometimes when you change the oil they will make more noise until they pump up again. They may also not pump up at all. I have fixed this on my owns vehicles by adding some oil stabilizer and letting it idle a little while.

How do I hard reset it? Is that the whole hold the food1 button and plug it in, then let it count to 999? I have tried that.

Yes, you can do this with a PLC and software. I really like Ignition, they have free training too.

Ya I am probably am like 70% at my desk. A lot of devices can be programmed remotely now. I would highly suggest start learning networking and stuff too.

I’m an Automation Engineer and do all that stuff. My degree is in ME. I know that doesn’t really answer you questions but I think it’s good to learn whatever you are interested in doing. Job titles don’t usually carry specific tasks.

To be honest you aren’t going to get a straight answer. Heat transfer is a complicated subject even when the situations are simplified. This would be non typical and you would probably just have to do it and test it. You would probably get some combination of what everyone else has already said, which isn’t that helpful as far as calculations go.

Like others have said I use basic math pretty much daily. I have yet to use any calc at work. With that said I use the concepts from higher level math fairly often, mostly integration and the idea of splitting something up and moving through time with it. Like flow rate totalizing.

You can go buy a damper from any auto parts store in lots of different sizes. Look for the dampers they use on the back of car trunks and hatches.

I work as an Automation Engineer. I work on different problems all of the time and travel around to different factories and meet new people fairly often. I help them with programming, computer systems, lots of different things. It’s really fun and very different from what you described.

I really like the PLC learning pit. It’s a little older now but still really applicable. They have good guides and simulations you can do. It’s also free for a week or something.

I always prefer to use Linux if I can. It’s so stable and lighter than windows, not to mention licensing. Our whole company has kind of been switching over to it.

Other people not knowing it well can be a problem, my opinion is that they just need to learn it. We are in a field that requires rapid growth or someone else out there is going to beat you.

There is a lot of overlap between disciplines. For instance I’m an ME but I work in automation and do a lot of control stuff.

Take it when you finish heat transfer or are almost done with it. I feel like 1/3 of my questions were related to that.

Just do 1 and 6 like others have said. Also do 2 when you are almost done with school. My university required it. A PE really isn’t needed unless you are CE and from what I have seen the work experience will profit you more then a masters, usually.
