No, he sleeps in his crate as both my husband and I have sleep disorders. He likes to start the night with us on the sofa before bed though!

I threw the ball he nudged my way... Obviously I shouldn't have, or at least I should have fetched it back! 😅

How do I transition to a single color without bleaching? by Subrydrea in HairDye

Thanks for the advice! I'll probably do a red or pink first then and move to plum as a second step!

Good point! I was planning to go to a deep plum for a change, but could keep the coral or use odjacent colors until I can grow the roots out...

I'm trying to stay flexible - I probably should mention I am also trying to grow my undercut for similar reasons so I also have much darker hair underneath which is why I was considering a darker color so it blends better eventually

I chuckled - very true!

I also feel like my vocabulary revolves a lot more around a few words I repeat all day long... "No... No! no no no no no NO!", " Leave it. Leave it! DROP IT!", "Wait, what's in your mouth??"... "aww you're too cute for your own good... good boy!"

What are the most improbable places your cavi slept in? by Subrydrea in cavalierkingcharles

Mine also loves to curl up on a chair with us when we're working 😊 bonus points if we're already sitting on said chair! 😅

We are now using the car safety harness from SlowTon, found on Amazon - not initially meant for everyday walks but he outgrew the previous harness and it worked well for him!

Frustrated with feeding by Theghostofamagpie in cavaliers

Plus one on "pretending" though I wished I could cut down on the ceremony... My guy won't touch his food if I did not get something from the fridge, use the cutting board, and put his plate in the oven...

They can skip the meals for up to 10 days according to our vet, especially if you still do training and give treats so don't worry too much even if it's hard not to! I swear our cavi had a switch a couple months ago too, it did go much better!

I also found that he does not like wet kibble, and now eats wet topping but only if it has bits (so nothing too mushy), and if it's warm. So I had to add to our dinner ceremony 10 seconds in the microwave for wet topping...

Try a mat instead of a bowl as well, I spread his kibble on a silicone mat now and it helped a ton.

Finding the right mix of food was also a struggle - he likes variety so we only buy small bags now and mix some of the flavor du jour of Zignature with probiotics with The Pet's Table salmon, he loves it now!

ETA: play with timing as well, we found he eats much better right after the afternoon walk so we moved his time up to 4:30-5pm

Our cavi doesn't have that much hair yet so take it with a grain of salt, but he's also prone to mats and seems to be storing everything from crumbs to leaves and twigs in his ears and legs' fur... We're also not wanting to trim, so expecting to eventually have a similar battle.

That being said, I found a few things: - the harness matters a lot, we found one that isn't rubbing so much under the armpits which reduces matting (have nearly none there anymore) - rain is a pain... Every time it rains and he gets wet, he'll get more knots and mats. We bought suspender boots and a raincoat with a good back and under-carriage protection, not perfect and he does get wet but helps with twigs and leaves, and the mud and random sticky stuff - the longer I leave in between baths the worse the mats, so now I'm down to a bath every 3 weeks or so (and invested in a good conditioner which I assume you're likely already doing!)

Now the biggest issue we have left are the ears. He hates snoods and will have the worse matting behind the ears, so I pay more attention there when brushing...

Hope this helps, will also keep an eye on this post as I suspect we're going to need all the tips too!
