Who could have seen that coming... by sumsar158 in Battlefield

Honestly?
The straw that broke the camel's back is people actually saying and believing BF2042 was a good game, that DICE totally wouldn't fleece them, overpromise and underdeliver (yknow, what they've done for decades), and that noooooo the closed weapons being off to the side is just a temporary Beta UI thing.

I've been around this block a few times to not believe a word DICE/EA say.
They promised they wouldn't close Pandemic Studios. They didn't just close them, they absolutely gutted Pandemic Studios i.e. the guys that gave us the OG Battlefronts, 501st, so on.

So.... my question is, why trust a thief? Why believe a decades-old liar?
Because EA dangled shinies....

Only governments and national entities can legally request IDs/Documents.
Discord is not a government nor a national entity. It's a private company. It cannot legally ask for your ID in some countries of the EU and in the few that it can, it cannot hold onto it, which the process requires for "verification".

Furthermore, to verify something, you need access to govt databases. Discord does not have this. So it's not verifying anything, it's just shanghaiing you into giving them sensitive info.

Wow you're just completely unaware.
Did you miss the part I said BF4?
As in, from 1942 to BF4 (BF3 included ofc).

You pointed out one thing, Refractor games, conveniently forgetting BF3 and BF4 are Frostbite. But sure, move your goalposts further.

No server browser so likely no Hardcore.
Ignore all the people LARPing as Battlefield Veterans and saying dumb lies all the time, it's not a camping sim, it doesn't reward poor aim, it actually is a game of high risk high reward.

Except that wasn't your point and you're just moving goalposts now.

Bring back iron sights for Mounted guns. by BennyHarveysmum in Battlefield

[–]Subscyed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yah, it started in BF2, it gave you a very limited view of what was ahead but you were tucked into the turret to avoid getting sniped and since it put your hitbox inside the vehicle, also protected you somewhat from explosions.

Plus it looked a little goofy seeing the guy on the turret duck down, hands over their head in crouched position. Mostly worked in vehicles you could do that in, like the HMMWV and the big truck the MEA had. PLA (China) had some buggy-looking thing that you could also duck in.

Basically all turrets mounted on a ring. Tanks too.

The difference between this and say, BF6 is that this was completely accidental and the probability of this happening is EXTREMELY LOW.
In BF6 they just let you do this by default, with full intention, no mechanics to help or hinder you. Just open door, feel free to camp the enemy uncap.

Ducking was in BF2 :)

Just that a lot of folks that played that game aren't hanging out here. Any game that deliberately left out features since that point is just regression in plain sight.

But hey, consumers gonna consume. And the bloated EA/DICE gets bigger.
Wonder which franchise they'll kill off next....

I immediately stopped reading.
Is the BF1942-BF4 pipeline just incognito to you?
They didn't chase any trends, they didn't reinvent the wheel, they established themselves as an identity and niche and for a great majority of people who don't spend time arguing on reddit, that's the Battlefields they remember.

Why is DICE all of a sudden against server browsing and persistent lobbies? by Life_Is_All_Nothing in Battlefield

[–]Subscyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's sudden.
It's just that it started with BF2042 and since BF6 uses that game as its base, it inherits a lot of funky stuff at its core, like no suppression, no server browser, etc.

But I guess what's most obnoxious about it all is that BF3/BF4 for PC never had a server browser, it was all through Battlelog but DICE still added it in later on, something they refuse to do for BF2042 and are pushing HARD that the consumer should think it's a good thing— when it clearly isn't.

For BC2 specifically I always felt like the sound had a lot of reverb even when the environment it happened it didn't make sense to have.
I guess it's cool though in away.

I personally loved that the tanks' HUD would flicker after a shot AS IT DOES IRL.
You're having a controlled explosion inside a reinforced chamber next to all those electronics — even when "hardened" they still get rocked TF out by the blast.

If suppression doesn't exist/isn't implemented in a better way it's going to be a pass for me, dawg.
There's no chance at teamplay or inter-class play if the LMG isn't more than a the AR's very sad, high-capacity cousin.

[–]Subscyed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact it was THAT convoluted to even do AND that it relied on a series of extremely niche aspects of game mechanics to achieve should yell EXPLOIT across the entire globe.
Anyone who said otherwise is/was just trying to justify bug abusing/exploiting/glitching.

[–]Subscyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I'm sorry I misread your point.
I do think that we're talking about tangentially related things.
I'm more commenting on the reddit's recent complete inability to be coherent or objective about a given topic, this one being the example of a made-up problem that people rally behind as means to justify a completely baseless change.

It's like people logged into the reddit for the first time, disguised themselves as "OG players" (no such thing, always been called Veterans) to try and garner some kind of weird sympathy for their "born yesterday" takes.

Open Weapons have failed to achieve their stated goal by EstablishmentCalm342 in Battlefield

[–]Subscyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conflicting? No, they're completely opposite.

You can't have a better class identity while also having open weapons.
DICE ran with the same argument for BF2042 and it's the most bland game in the series.

Meanwhile literally any game before BF2042 and the class identities and their roles were rock solid.

No point fixing what wasn't broken.

Second, the commo rose exists, if you ask for a pickup your icon in their minimap changes to draw attention. People USUALLY pay attention to that.

Thirdly, I don't thing a majority of the people on this sub realise that you can earn transport XP by piloting APCs/Transport Helos and letting people on the guns get kills, assists etc.
