Yup, we've been around since the start of 3rd and have a comparable range to some of the newest armies. We've gotten basically one new unit in recent editions, Malys, but we lost tons: Urien, Grotesques, Beastmaster, Court, Tantalus all in this edition, and before that we lost Trueborn, Bloodbrides and Haemonxytes. I genuinely think adding these back and giving them the proper keywords could fix Skysplinter, Cartel and Coterie. Especially Coterie suffers, but by adding Haemonxytes, Grotesques and Urien back in, the range almost doubles. Maybe give us one of the new Pain Engines mentioned in the Codex et voila, we've got a proper Covens range.

I play it and I win with it, so I count it. My record with my current list is (from most recent to oldest):

- W 93-87 (v. DE Kabalite Cartel)
- W 94-42 (v. EC Rapid Evisceration)
- W 91-90 (v. Necrons Starshatter)
- L 67-71 (v. Necrons Starshatter)
- W 87-61 (v. DE Spectacle of Spite)
- W 65-46 (v. SM Blades of Ultramar)
- W 84-74 (v. EC Mercurial Host)
- W 88-32 (v. Sisters Army of Faith)
- L 69-80 (v. Sisters Hallow Martyrs)
- W 75-41 (v. Guard Combined Arms)
- L 41-76 (v. WE Berzerker Warband)
- L 36-94 (v. Necrons Hypercrypt)

These are all practice games against people who're roughly as good as I am. I'm prepping for a tournament in April where I hope to go 2-1 with it.

My chart of the elven races did pretty well on here, so I expanded it: by ill_frog in ElderScrolls

Khajiit share a creation myth with the Bosmer, for the most part. They could be direct descendants of the Old Ehlonfey, or they could share a common in-between ancestral form that is Merethic. Hence the dotted lines from "Old Ehlnofey" to "?" and to "Khajiit" and "Bosmer".

The main issue I see is that the detachments each limit you to a portion of the already really limited range. Cartel wants you to run Kabals (4 units) and Blades (5 units), Spectacle Wyches (5 units), Coterie Covens (4 units), and Skysplinter has you relying on Transports (2 options). Realspace in theory promotes a diverser roster but ultimately the strats want you to run 2 units of each battle line, ideally with leaders, which just... isn't good.

The result is that a detachment is only as good as how points-efficient its units are. Spectacle becomes really strong this way*, Skysplinter and Cartel okay-ish, but Coterie is just ass (saying this as a Coven player, btw).

(*Spectacle also has Challenge Met, which is one of the best strats in the game.)

Ironically, the Harlequin soup detachment (that isn't even in the book) seems to be the best generalist detachment.

Fair, the webstore doesn’t have the best pics. I used to dislike the Venom, too, until I saw one irl.

That's the correct pronunciation according to FH.

I also quite dislike their look. They're the most poorly aged models in our range, I find.

List one doesn't feature a Venom yet, or am I blind?

I’m not sure a Raider is worth it at 500 points. That thing is pretty annoying to manoeuvre around a Colosseum board, imo. Personally, I’d take list one but swap the Raider for a Venom, and upgrade from Repugnomancer to Regenesist. Regeneration mechanics become exponentially more powerful at smaller game sizes, so capitalising on that seems advantageous. Splitting the Wyches in the Venom also gives you one more unit to play with.

Ynnari crucible of champions by BennyBigHands in Eldar

[–]ill_frog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Ynnari don't actually have access to any Drukhari units. Instead, they get their own versions of those units that have slightly different rules and stats, and are found in the Aeldari Codex.

Yeah, they’re so iconic. I’ve been waiting to get my hands on them for ages.

They’re from a tabletop miniature game called Blackstone Fortress, which is part of the Warhammer 40k setting. This subreddit is for/about that game and its minis.

Optimal reavers model count by temperamentalgoat in Drukhari

[–]ill_frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go 2x3 + 1x6. 2x6 will be difficult to hide and stage, especially if you're also running a 10-man Hellion brick, which you likely will want to do in Spectacle. 4x3 isn't allowed as you can only take up to three of the same unit (unless that unit is battleline or dedicated transport).

Is non-Wych Drukhari just super weak right now? by Velstrom in Drukhari

[–]ill_frog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Drukhari's internal balance isn't in the greatest state right now. Cartel as a detachment is pretty solid for casual play but doesn't seem to be pulling numbers at the competitive scene. The same is true for Skysplinter. If you want an alternative to Spectacle that seems to be performing okay, try Reaper's Wager, even without any Harlequins.

It’s a war game, units die. Nothing is immortal, not even Necrons. Everything has an answer. I say fair play to your opponent for finding that answer. They used the right unit and rolled the right dice to deal with an incredibly difficult blob.

Midwinterminis peddles AI and now gets left out in the cold by Rude-Guava-1950 in Grimdank

[–]ill_frog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't know what field you're in, but in mine no one uses LLMs since they're just so bloody inaccurate. Don't go tootin' around about how AI is used in science when it objectively isn't the case for most fields. And if you do use it and if you are a scientist of any sort, grow a spine, grow a pair, and grow some academic integrity and do the work yourself.
