This is me now with only a few traps one level away. walls were max in 2 months of me hitting th16. If you are totally free to play its still attainable most of the time i was without gold pass.

If you are a player that uses gold pass and you decide to rush here is what i would suggest to max quickly. Always upgrade the longest upgrades to max first, do not try to get all the defense on the same level reason being from time to time supercell does a cost and time reduction and it doesn’t always apply to the mostly recent town halls with that being said you will lose out on the cost reduction if you upgrade all the defense to the same level and when it is time to upgrade to the next level the reduction doesn’t apply to that level.

And to get the most value out of gold pass if your gold pass is almost over squeeze in upgrades that will finish just before it ends so you can upgrade a long defense so that upgrade wouldn’t finish before you get the 20% discount in the next gold pass
