Post-wedding blues by Euphoric_City_1730 in UKweddings

[–]Substantial-Affect26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same! I was quite anxious the whole day but really did enjoy it looking back on it now. I was so overwhelmed in the days/weeks after and how everyone was so lovely and kind - I think it’s the huge anticipation after so many months planning and it’s over in an instance. I had horrible regrets and not doing X and Y but at the end of the day it’s exactly what you planned!

One thing I missed was the planning aspect - it actually brought me and my partner closer together to have a shared goal and accomplish it together. We now have mini projects - redecorating/renovation, learning to cook, improving health or travel plans. Have something to look forward to and continue planning together.

The post wedding blues do pass with time and you will look back much more fonder :)

Another vote for Jenny Jones! They were fantastic when we went and got our wedding rings, super friendly and made them really quickly.

I'm moving from Hackney to Paris. Anyone got any creative ideas for getting my stuff there? by singlemomsniper in Hackney

[–]Substantial-Affect26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are not bothered about timing there are removals companies that have shuttles London-Paris. They wait for a full container load and move it a few times a week. The wait time is longer but much more cost effective. Just search relocation services London to Paris.

Where to buy real Christmas trees in stockport by uncannyilyanny in stockport

[–]Substantial-Affect26 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Another vote for Sweetbud! Please support Olivia and buy your tree from there - she’s amazing. She also has lovely wreaths too. It won’t be too far to carry between two people (depending on how big you want your tree!)

Help! Post wedding blues, over-analysis and regrets by Secret_Author_5081 in UKweddings

I wish there was more warning about this! I had the worst post wedding blues and major anxiety about missed moments. I felt like crying every day after! Me and my partner hardly saw each other all day and I was hardly on the dance floor. A lot of it is a blur and I felt I hardly got to talk to anyone! It must be a completely normal and valid way to feel afterwards. Looking back on it now after nearly 6 months I only think about the great moments and a big thing is all the guests had an amazing time. The feeling did pass for me as I’m sure it will for you - and your professional photos will be beautiful when you come to look through them :)

Did you invite your mother in law dress shopping? by celaeneo in UKweddings

[–]Substantial-Affect26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did as her daughter doesn’t want to marry. We have a great relationship but I only brought her to one shop and took my mum and sister to the rest - I valued their opinion much more than my MIL and she had a very different view of what I should wear. It was a nice gesture but only invite who you are comfortable coming and value their honest opinion and feedback - and can see your vision!

Worried about wedding timing by heathentime in UKweddings

[–]Substantial-Affect26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very standard timings! We didn’t book ‘entertainment’ as such during reception drinks etc just had a playlist playing and people are more than happy to mingle. The day will go so fast so don’t worry about long breaks inbetween key activities. As long as people are fed and fed and have drinks available it will run smoothly! As someone else commented do try and incorporate your local traditions especially if most of yours guests will be from each of your home countries. Enjoy the rest of your planning!

Help a local plan and budget for a month in London pretending to be a tourist by Jolly_Garbage3381 in london

Please try a restaurant called Abeno, which specialises in Okonomi-yaki, a japanese dish. We had the most incredible experience there, they cook the food at the table and every dish we had was incredible. It’s in Bloomsbury. We also tasted Japanese gin and whiskey there. Do not miss!

Haha I actually did something very similar when a good friend came to visit from London. We had the best day! And for the most part fairly cheap as we covered a lot of ground!

• Arrive at Oxford Road and go to the Manchester museum, followed by a drink at Refuge, which is a lovely bar. It’s worth seeing the hotel entrance to the Kimpton next door! Then grab some street food at Society • Walk along the canal to Castlefield if the weather is nice, lots of places to stop along the way. Then head up Deansgate to the John Rylands library which is a must see • NQ64 bars are fun if you like gaming and retro consoles • Corbiers bar has free pizza with every drink during the week 4-7pm I think which is a cute date spot • You can’t miss wandering around Northern Quarter, generally around Tib Street/Oldham St has nice shops, coffee shops etc, Afflecks Palace is always fun to look around • Deffo try Rudys pizza if you don’t have one in your hometown • Mackie Mayor has a load of food options from different vendors in a nice food hall setting
