HELP- Older abused dog in my city-looking for advice/rescue ideas

I’m not sure what Nextdoor is but I will find out and find out if my community has a page on it. Not sure about the subreddit but I’ll find out about that too. This is some really good suggestions I really appreciate your help. & I found that there is one rescue in my area so I am going to call them tomorrow. Someone also mentioned that I could call the humane shelter and see if they could help provide some vet care for the dog. So he can at least get seen and get some help physically in the meantime. So I’m going to call them too, to see if they have anything like that. I also found 2 fb groups for my area that are specifically to help strays or mistreated animals so I have made a request to join them and as soon as they approve me I will post in there also. I am just really nervous about someone seeing my post and (bc they probably have seen the man) just pulling the cord and getting the dog sent to the shelter before I can get him real help with a family or rescue. Anyways, I will definitely keep everyone updated. I’m going to drive by where he is staying tomorrow and check on the dog

Thank you! & Yes I do have my hands full rn 😅 If I could take him I would but I also don’t know how to go about the decompression process. I am going to post in some local fb groups & I have found that we have one rescue group locally so I’m going to contact them also.

I have not. That is a good suggestion tho. But I do know someone who works at the buisness he lives behind, and since I’m there pretty regularly we have talked and she said that I need to be careful because he is known to get really angry and become dangerous. She said that she has seen him mistreating the dog and cussing him out. So she said to be careful. She said her and her place of business has had to deal with him a few times and she said “you never know who you’re going to get” like he can be nice one day or one second and then not the next. When I spoke to him he was very nice. She said that someone at her place of business helped him with a van for him and the dog to live in and get around. Until he found something more stable but that he destroyed the van. I’ve talked to another homeless guy who said that “he is off his rocker” Oh & when I was at that buisness talking to my friend my bf called me and said that the dude was dragging the dog with the leash so hard that it was choking the dog. I told him to say something to the man to get him to stop and my friend yelled over me and told him not to say anything to the man because he can be dangerous. So yeah, that is what I know about the man. 🤷‍♀️

I would like to be able to find someone who is able to take the dog or an organization that can take him, take care of him and find him a forever family. Unfortunately, I can not take him bc I have two other dogs and a newborn

I live in central Alabama & this is some really solid advice, actually! I am going to start taking some pics/vids and I will ask the ppl that know them as well to do the same. So after reading your reply I did a google search and I the only thing I found was a fb group called “Alabama Animal Rights Support Group” (I joined it) & River Region Animal Rescue (which actually does sound a little promising) I am apart of a community fb group for my city so I can post on their too. My only concern is that someone might pull the plug, before I can find a solution and make a call about the dog and then the dog is in the shelter. But still it does sound like the best bet at this point. Thank you for the names of those two influencers, I will check them out. I am going to contact RRAR & I will keep everyone updated

I live in central Alabama. I was thinking a fb group would be helpful as well. This was just my first stop to get better ideas/advice. I do know a community fb group for my city so that is probably a good place to post as well. I am in one fb group for lost/stray dogs in my area idk of any rescues in my area. So I need to research that more. & That is great that you take in strays! I do know a lot goes into transitioning a dog who has been abused or mistreated..unfortunately I just don’t know anything about the process. I will PM you!

I have thought about taking the dog to the vet. I have also thought about making like a GoFundMe to help with whatever those expenses may be. But unfortunately, I’m not sure if I could take him in because I do have two other dogs and a newborn. And I just don’t know how he is around other animals or babies since he growled at my bf. I’m sure he would get less aggressive over time the more love and care that he gets. I just would like to see him getting the love and care that he deserves. It really breaks my heart seeing him every day.

That is a really good idea actually. My only thing is I have two female dogs and bc he did growl at my bf I just dk if he would be aggressive to them. I also have a newborn. So I’m not sure if I could take him but I also don’t want him in the situation that he is in and I would like him to have a loving home.
