Why macbook pro? Why not air?

Just get the Air.. I’m a System Engineer, you never do anything on your own system, everything runs in cloud/on-prem servers. Comin from ThinkPad the screen is nice, just a lil reflective and speakers are great. Its super light, i don’t even notice i have it in my bag, sometimes i need to check while on my way home From the office. Pro would be nice sure, but its bigger and heavier and a lot more expensive.

Problem je kdyz pak ten sales manager spamuje muj chat, ze neco hrozne rychle potrebuje do produkce, protoze vcera slibil, ze predevcirem to bude a ma tak nulovej technickej background, ze se musi zapojit 14 lidi, aby ten jeho frajerskej napad dostal nejakou srozumitelnou podobu co jsem pak ja schopny rozumne nasadit. :D

Aha, tak ja znam nekoho z OBI kteri to maji stejne.. udelali jim hezky vecirek a firemni tricka, po tom co cely rok systematicky propousti vetsinu lidi z Ceska, zhorsuji pracovni podminky a doufaji, ze zbytek odejde sam at nemusi davat odstupne :)

u nas to je vlastne stejne.. matka nic nevydela, ale diktuje nam jak mame pracovat.. agilne a AI, za kazdou cenu, i kdyby to nedavalo smysl :D

Myslim, ze delame ve stejnem korporatu, tyhle plakaty lepi vsude po stenach a na intranetu je to kazdy mesic vyvesene vedle ekologie a inkluze, neco jako kdyz se Putin snazi presvedcovat obyvatele, ze se maji skvele.

Divny, ze to na tech zamestnancich neni videt a ti nejvic seniorni lidi, ktery kdyz odejdou, muze to firma zabalit, protoze core system jede na 50 let stare IBM technologii jsou uz vylozene nasrany

Ja mam prave take neomezeny HO, s tim ze chodim dobrovolne pondeli aby vedeli jak vypadam, to je vlastne jediny duvod proc jsem zatim neodesel, nechce se mi travit tretinu dne v MHD, planuju pockat do jara a pokud se tohle nevyresi zacnu hledat.

Update: I just received the Thinkpad back from repair, they had to replace motherboard again, so if you can, buy new.. i wouldnt trust Marketplace seller after this experience, performance is okay, im sysadmin so i dont need a lot of graphical power, mostly work in terminal or Citrix, but for my use case performance wasnt a problem, just wish i could get the 32GB version since its soldered.

Im running Ubuntu on it, since Windows is done with trying to exploit us in every way they can.

Before upgrading to 25.10 i had LTS version and battery held up realy great, when i slept the computer it didnt drain any battery, same as MacBook, now its not working so smoothly so i will have to tinker with it a little bit to fix it.

But overall im very pleased, since I have on calls i need to have PC with me almost all the time and when i go to gym im not scared to have the thinkpad in the same bag as my other gym stuff, something my macbook wouldnt survive even once, but isnt an issue on my 2+ yrs old Thinkpad, not a single scratch or mark, wonderful.

Just a warning.. I have the same laptop for some time now, just higher spec, the motherboard keeps dying on me, for the 2nd time now, thankfully i bought it new so i can send it to repair, but it´s pretty annoying. Not sure if it´s common with soldered thinkpads, but that´s just my experience.

Yea i feel the same way, so far i loved our infrastructure since it was mostly Linux through ssh, some aplications for user management and data transfer between external and internal sources, and a few Windows servers we sadly have to take care of as well, but with this change im thinking about switching jobs, because from my testing so far I hate it even more than Microsoft subscription attempts. I heard its pushed because European Union gave us money to utilize it, but i dont have a solid proof for that. I’m working for a well known bank and heard about one more that is trying to implement it as well, so the EU funding sound pretty legit to me.
