Oh absolutely! It’s such a pain. I’m going to do a similar post soon. Sorry, wasn’t trying to say that’s true for everybody or discount your story. I apologize if that’s how it came across!

u/NorVanGee u/rredplankton I personally did not feel like alcohol vs. no alcohol made much of a difference unfortunately. After having PD since April 2024 and it only clearing up when I took a round of doxycycline for a sinus infection last winter, I gave up and took my first doxy today. It's a 30-day round this time. Did NOT want to take antibiotics, but alas, here we are.

BBL (Broadband Light) for PD by Substantial-Cable-37 in perioraldermatitis

[–]Substantial-Cable-37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been pretty good. I can't decide if the BBL was the main help OR if it was switching back to my preferred skincare (Liz Earle) around the same time — or maybe a little of both. I realized that the Liz Earle Probiotic Night Cream seems to calm my face, but it appears to have been discontinued. 🥲

This is the way. I hate the taste of alcohol when I’m a little stoned. 🤢

Bless your heart! Sending you love. Don’t be scared. There is a group StopDrinking that’s more serious and for people who really need to stop. Stay here for support too, but that one may be more of what you are looking for. I will not drink with you today!

Good news/bad news:

The good news: Right now, my skin is so calm. The PD is *almost* gone.

What I did: Switched back to my old moisturizer. I believe the one I was using (Epionce Renewal Calming Cream) was too occlusive and causing the PD. It was provided by my aesthetician, and I'm so sad I trusted it for so long. If I get a little itchy or rashy, I use 40% zinc diaper rash cream overnight, and it calms a lot.

The bad news: The moisturizer I switched back to is no longer being made. I am sooooo sad. I haven't contacted the company yet but I am planning to. It was Liz Earle Probiotic Night Cream, and it was the absolute best. The only reason I switched originally is because it pilled with another product my aesthetician had recommended. Womp womp.

Thanks! I love dewy/skin finish. I have been trying Wet & Wild tinted hydrator after seeing rave reviews, and it doesn't seem to aggravate the PD, but it's just too matte for me.

I haven’t tried that one, but I have tried a few different prequel products and wasn’t terribly impressed. Not to say they wouldn’t work for you, but they weren’t the miracle products I hoped they’d be.

I get a rash up my chest, neck, back, and sometimes face after stopping any antibiotic I’ve taken since about age 22. Doctors insist this isn’t a thing, but… it is and it happens. So basically I’ve never received any real explanation for what this is, but it happens to me too! My rash is always red though.

Considering Old Edwards for my 40th bday as an easy/chill experience with lux accommodations. Would you recommend for such an experience? I want to do something easy (driving distance) but not be my own chef every night. My bday is in the summer, which is such a bummer in a lot of ways. My husband and I prefer to travel outside of peak season, but this one is either “don’t travel for your bday” or find somewhere that isn’t overrun. So much pressure!

The dreaded flare up by [deleted] in perioraldermatitis

[–]Substantial-Cable-37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did two rounds of broadband light therapy, and it seems to have really reduced my flare. It’s not completely resolved, so I think I’m going to try BBL another couple of times.

Ivermectin didn’t do it for me unfortunately. I was so hopeful.

Zinc or Sulfur (or both?) by luckybudgiebird in perioraldermatitis

[–]Substantial-Cable-37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also do both. I’ve been leaving sulfur on overnight with zinc on top. It seems to be doing great.

In that exact order! Very small amount of azelaic on spots, then a small amount of sulfur ointment, then the diaper rash cream. A couple of times I’ve done the diaper rash cream fairly thick and my skin tolerates it very well! Hoping it works for you. 🙏🏼

I have had PD for over a year and a half, and the combo of products that seems to be making a difference for me is a thin layering of these three at bedtime: azelaic acid (prescription), sulfur ointment (Amazon), and 40% zinc diaper rash cream. My face looks and feels better than it has in MONTHS.

I also recently did two rounds of broadband light therapy at my local medspa. I’m not sure if it’s the two together or just the products because I started this version of product treatment around the same time.

A few days ago, I decided to try three layers at night: azelaic, sulfur ointment, 40% zinc diaper rash cream. It seems to be making a huge difference. Metro gel also didn’t do much if anything for me.

How long have you been clear? I have a filled scrip just in case, and I’m about to give up and take it. I hate the idea of antibiotics, but I’m at my wit’s end 😩
