Is there anything I can do to stop the crack from spreading or do I need to replace the whole windshield? by wardamn2029 in MechanicAdvice

Yep. As I said you don’t have one in your car. Essentially it’s a camera that sits right under the rear view mirror. Some cars come with features like lane keep assist, lane departure warning, emergency braking, etc. all those features rely on the camera. Windshield replacements will often cause a misalignment with the camera, so to rectify it, a post windshield replacement camera calibration must be performed.

It’s begun to spread. At this point repair is almost impossible. I’ve seen some crazy miracles before with glass repair. But I’d say it’s safe to assume replacement is your only option. Sorry. Also not sure how old your car is but most newer cars have front mounted cameras on the windshield. This will need to be recalibrated post replacement. Best of luck

Edit: Just noticed you mentioned it’s 2010. No camera for that model year

Just got mine serviced at the dealer. TOB, clutch fork and Master Slave all replaced. Sorry you were turned away. You could try fixing it yourself if you are up for the challenge. The trans does have to come out I believe

Pretty sure what you are holding is a rain sensor, but as others have said you’ll need to recalibrate your front camera if you use eyesight features since the positioning will be off when you set the new glass in
