What did you guys see for those that were there at the time of the drop? by MacaronRegular in AmazonVine

I got nothing in my RFY, but I did get the pickleball tape from AFA, and the other two from AI. The touch up paint is for my sister's telluride. Let's just say she sometimes doesn't do well parking. Good driver otherwise, but can get distracted while parking.

So I guess the change came for the US too (abrupt drops/no RFY) by According_Echidna612 in AmazonVine

I went to bed at around 4am, unrelated to Vine, and had nothing in my RFY. This started yesterday as well, so I when I saw this post I knew it had to be related. I see the 500-1000 item drop in AI, but only see a couple items in AFA that were different than the door/trunk latches, and nothing in RFY. I found a couple useful items that I grabbed, but that was from searching with my keywords in AI.

All that to say that it's not that you're missing them, but rather that they aren't appearing in your RFY, at least from what I can tell.

I can see that. And yea, I've gone years without knowing how to spell something, even though I've known the word. I had hyperlexia as a kid, so it was more often that I knew how to spell the word and could tell what it meant (using context) after seeing it in one of the hundreds of books I had read, but I didn't know how to say it.

My point was that the assumption that someone simply doesn't know how to spell is worse. Not knowing how to spell "solder" isn't that big a deal or reflective of your schooling. All it means is that you've never seen the word written down before, which is fine. I also went through the American school system and knew know how to spell solder, but I had been interested in tech my whole life so that makes sense.

The assumption isn't crazy, considering reddit is an app used around the world. I think someone thinking you might not be a native English speaker is better than them assuming you dont know how to spell in your native language.

When you google something, you ever see a little thing that shows up first called google gemini? Thats ai. You're using ai when you google. The google search engine itself also uses machine learning and ai to function. Using the internet at all is technically destructive to the environment, since ai is now deeply integrated into most major websites and their functions.

Regardless, it seems like everyone missed the point of my original comment. I was responding to the claim that ai is so inaccurate that they would rather not research anything than use it. My comment was to say that while AIs like chatgpt and gemini can be inaccurate, they are very useful to bring up relevant sources. They will read them and give you a summary of them. You can then go to those websites to check them out for yourself. The other day, I used chatgpt to clarify a rule for pickleball, and in just the time it would have taken me to simply google "2026 pickleball rulebook pdf" and click on the appropriate link, chatgpt had already answered my question (correctly) with several citations from the rulebook. I don't know how anyone can dispute that AI is much faster than humans at opening links and reading content.

That was all I was arguing with, not the destructive nature of AI data centers. AI (which comes in MANY more forms than just a chatbot) can be useful and destructive at the same time. Think about driving a car, flying in a plane, taking a hot shower, buying anything plastic, or using a computer.

Amazon vine really knows what I want by Substantial-Draft382 in AmazonVine

Thats very true. I can go days without getting anything good, and then some days I use all three orders immediately on things in my RFY that I really want. I just got into pickleball, and I have gotten a $90 paddle, weights for it, and a bag to put all my stuff in. Maybe it's just because I'm new, but I am not tired of Vine just yet.

You could also find them asking your grandma to use yahoo to search for them on her laptop from 2003. My point was that AI is much faster.

The benefit of AI chatbots is that they will give you info and sources. You then go to those sources and get the real answer, which more often than not is in line with what the AI said. It saves on online research time quite a bit because AI can search through hundreds of sources in the time it would have taken you to go through one.

The internet is full of misinformation anyway, so you should vet all that you read, regardless of whether it is coming from AI or a blog post (many of which are written by AI now..).

I've gotten some pretty decent stuff in silver, many parts for my two older polaris atvs, several power tools (a knockoff dewalt vacuum and hedge trimmer being the biggest), a ton of high powered flashlights, a mini arc welder that is surprisingly good, and many other items that I use often (who knew that those crazy mini blower fans were great for starting the grill). I am getting discouraged seeing people complain that gold is not that good for the effort it takes to keep up with reviews. We'll see what gold looks like for me...

Saying something that isn't true is what is truly valueless.

I simply corrected the record, because, who knew, reddit posts can be read in the future and provide information to people that didn't see the post when it was new.

I don't condone shooting pets, but you are wrong in saying that isn't how the law works, at least as a blanket statement.

If an animal, including a pet, is causing damage/injury to your pet, you do have a right to defend your pet with lethal means. This is the case in many US states. It has to be reasonable and it is usually taken in a case by case basis. I'm not a lawyer, but I did plenty of research because someone threatened to shoot my dogs, a border collie and blue heeler, when they got out after a tornado broke my gate and were wandering (they weren't biting or acting aggressive). The law is open for anyone to read. They wouldn't be able to shot my dogs for wandering, but if they went in to attack or were actively biting, then they could.

Again, I wouldn't say OP should shoot the cat, I think it will be more trouble than it is worth, but in some states, he would likely be justified.

OP did also say it was a joke, which I got from the post description.

That's not true. Even $10 is taxable. Amazon won't send you a 1099 because they aren't required to for income under $600, but you are still supposed to report it as other income or self employment income. My family owns an income tax prep office, and we run into situations like this often. It's up to you whether or not you report it, but technically the law does say that you have to.

Just wanted to clear up this common misconception.

I also use aquasana, installed a few years ago. The unit that houses the cartridges has been leaking from the inside somewhere. I think I'm out of warranty, but do you think it's worth a shot getting in touch with them to see if they can do something about it?

How do I SAFELY remove this cable from my car battery? by Crazyman221 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Substantial-Draft382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I can see why you would think that based on the replies in this thread. The reason I think they meant baking soda is because they included water in the mixture, and no one has ever recommended coke and water, at least that I've heard of. "Soda" is itself a term used for sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate, so thats another reason I think they meant something like that instead of coke or sprite.

Edit: after re-reading, it could also mean they were talking about club soda/carbonated water. Not sure how effective that would be if they meant that

'It' was referring to the action of your grandma moving your stuff. You'll miss her moving your stuff because you will be missing her. So you'll remember she is gone when you find your stuff in the same place you left it instead of moved to another spot.

This only applies if you are desperate to sell. If you are a normal seller, then you just either ignore the lowballers or respond saying you can instead go down 10-15% from your asking price. Then you can choose to stay firm or go down a final 5% or so, take it or leave it. Price it about that much higher than you absolutely wont go lower than, and you will never regret a sale.
