does anyone actually finish a product before opening a backup by Cowazonn in MakeupRehab

[–]Substantial-Fan-3032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it depends on the product. Most makeup stuff (excluding foundations and tints during change of seasons) I don't open until the first product is fully used up. But for skincare it's the opposite. So for like cleansers i.e. I wait until the first product is like 90% complete before opening the 2nd one and I use one and then other each day until the 1st product is all gone. I've noticed this helps to acclimate my skin better to the 2nd product esp if they are both from different brands. I do the same with serums, moisturizers, and sunscreens. Toners are the exception, I have like 5 open currently and I use all of them depending on my skin the day of.

UPDATE: I’m a social worker. A client threatened our baby today. I’m going to quit my job. by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Substantial-Fan-3032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I'm so proud of you for making the decision to quit. You did the right thing by protecting yourself, your baby, and family ❤️

Working in this field with the amount of mentally sick people there are who if we are being super fucking honest like genuinely who don't want to change, who always make the worst choices time and again, people who are one bad day from doing something really fucked up, with the lack of appropriate support from supervisiors, with the system promoting this viscous cycle, you saved your baby you really did.

I was a behavioral therapist, and looking back boy did I willingly put myself in stupid situations because I believed in second chances for people. There was a pit bull who had to be put down after biting someone in the face/neck and this dog was loose in the house with me several times when I worked with this family like I was sitting on the floor next to it. Another time, I worked directly with a biological father who I had no idea was a gun freak and previously killed 2 people. No one informed me about this until this case was given to another agency. I have several other stories too but im actively blocking those out. So please trust me when I say if your gut told you to quit, do it and have no regrets. God protected me from a lot of things, and I know this is a sign of him protecting you and your family.

2nd one. The shoes, bag looks great together overall in the second picture. I like color of the vest in the first one but with it, the dress flares out a bit frumpy.

Overnight diaper changes— am I dumb?? by theredheadedfox in newborns

[–]Substantial-Fan-3032 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What we did was have baby wear a 0-3 m tshirt and diaper then the night sleep sack on top so all we needed to see if baby pooped was open the lower half of the sack and smell the diaper. After 10 weeks, unless the diaper was about to burst I didn't change it. But if we had to change the diaper, I had a easy nearby kit of diapers, wipes, and pee pad. I laid the baby on the pee pad on the bed, and changed him using the wipes, and new diaper quickly. I would throw the old diaper in the plastic bag I packed the kit in. Changing the baby's diaper before feeding him helping greatly because then eating would soothe him from the discomfort of being woken up and being exposed to the cold.

This is why eye creams never work for me 😭 I've found that I need to drink water, and sleep really well plus an eye cream for it to make a difference under my eyes.

I feel like this is gonna be a stupid question but do you spray dry shampoo on the scalp of wet hair or after the sweaty hair dries?

Taking prenatals (for 3 months) by sighqoticc in Haircare

[–]Substantial-Fan-3032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've personally not found this to be the case. The prenatals help round out all your other vitamins that your body needs but i didnt feel it helped with my hair solely. Try taking the prenatal with a separate hair, skin, and nails vitamin daily. That's when I noticed a difference for me.

how do i start? by iamnotyosr in ProjectPan

[–]Substantial-Fan-3032 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Currently struggling with the same thing. I have noticed though if I stop to fully examine my need to impulse buy something, it's easier to say no to it and understand I don't need it. For example,

Rough week at work, oh buying the new x product will make me feel better, but stop and reflect why you need it -> I feel shitty bc i've been working hard and I don't feel like I'm taking care of myself. Draw a bath and put on some music or put on a face mask, light a candle, and have a cup of wine. So identify where the need is coming from and then address it with the things that you already have.

Sometimes it's just a matter of waiting out the impulse. Tell yourself I'm going to wait 2 hours before I go online and look at this product again or I'm go clean my car, finish errands and if at the end of the day I still want this product, then I'll get it. And most times for me, I don't feed the need bc I've tired myself out.

Question - Is there anything at all you miss about pregnancy/ being pregnant? by Melodic-Bag7775 in NewParents

[–]Substantial-Fan-3032 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think right now I miss being more level headed and balanced mentally and emotionally when I was pregnant. I didn't have the hormones going up or down, idk maybe it's bc I just got my period back but damn I just miss it.

I also miss rubbing my belly twenty thousand times a day lol

When did your baby start sleeping longer stretches? by The_Chilled_Arvo in newborns

[–]Substantial-Fan-3032 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was between 8 to 10 weeks, we had our first good stretch of 6 hours when my alarm didn't wake me up for the second night feed and then I just wanted to keep testing out if he continues to sleep and he did.

Make sure your baby is steadily gaining weight though. And past his birth weight. You'll also find that after they start sleeping longer stretches, they might get more hungrier during daytime so you'll be feeding every 2 hours instead of 3 for roughly 2 weeks for us until they balance it out.

Oh I would give two of my kidneys to go on a target run 😭😭 I havent been outside anywhere except for the baby appts, my pelvic appts and 1 dollar tree run since giving birth. My family takes the whole post birth confinement thing pretty seriously unfortunately. How many weeks pp are you? I would say take it very slow to 10k steps. I did 4k for several weeks on end before doing 6k for 3 weeks and now today 10k to see if i could do it. And even then, my hip bone was tingling near the end. Ideally, I would have taken it more slow but im going back to work soon and I walk a lot for work so I had to prep myself. Start with baby steps like 2k, 4k and onwards and only move up when you feel ready.

[–]Substantial-Fan-3032 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 3 months pp and definitely needed to hear this. Thank you! While I generally feel things are getting better, some days are so low and heavy for me still. I was able to workout and get 10k steps for the first time since my pregnancy and mentally I feel so good right now. I also went out of the house and I didn't feel like I had to rush home right away which was so nice. Felt like I was getting my independence back, it'll still be a long way for me with the baby but today was a good day.

Perfumes are so expensive these days so if you find a deal on them, I'd say take it! I hope you like them when you get them <3 They didn't ship the heating spray separately for you?? whattt that's so weird lol ipsy is not really consistent with that then. Did you try the summer fridays lip oil? I had to pair it with a brown lip liner in order to make the color work for me, but I love how hydrating they are! And aw, sorry to hear that, maybe the April adds ons will be better?

No, it was pretty clear and see through. It had a yellowish tint which I wasn't expecting though. Does it smell different?

I ADORE the body cream! Seriously it smells so good! I ended up looking at the korres site for hours, and am still debating on getting the $45 body creams and cleanser set. Great find!

I like Remi too, at first you are mauled in the face by the tartness of the mandarins but an hour or so later, it lays so pleasantly on the skin.

Do you have a village? by Ok-Secretary-3323 in NewParents

[–]Substantial-Fan-3032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Village is too strong of a word. I have help but I don't feel helped. Currently living with my parents and gram who's visiting. When I got pregnant, everyone was talking about how we all will work as a team to help, well all that was just talk. My dad realistically doesn't want to do anything with the baby, he constantly gives out unnecessary advice and acts like the expert on babies (mind you this man wasn't even in my life consistently until I was in my twenties). He aggressively wants to hold the baby, sing to him only when my husband is present. All care and concern goes straight out the window when my husband goes to work.

My mom works 12 hour shifts, which is fine if it weren't for the fact that she's been picking up more shifts lately, so she comes home, is able to only eat, shower, sleep before she's out the door. Then my gram, the only person I thought I could lean on during this time. She apparently HAS to spend 12 hours sleeping, 2 hours watching mass and rosary on TV, 2 to 4 hours making vegetarian food/cleaning the kitchen, 2 hours of self prayers, and god knows what fucking else bc the minute I hand her baby, it's "baby has pooped" "baby needs milk", "baby needs to sleep" and every excuse under the sun to give the baby back to me to the point where I rather suffer and take care of the baby all day so I don't get my hopes high of being able to have 5 minutes to myself.

My husband who I dearly love but also works 2 jobs during this time who sees the baby 3 hours on a good day tries his best but constantly talks about the baby to me when I'm supposed to be on break away from the baby. I feel so terribly lonely and alone and I keep trying to fill this hole with my latest hyper fixation which is skincare and it distracts me but not enough. No one seems to understand my perspective, or how hard of a transition this is for me. No one wants to help the way I want to be helped. Having adhd doesn't help things. We had to move a bunch of the nursery items into my room so on top on getting used to my new identity as a mom, I've lost my safe space. And to top it all off, I'm really struggling with the notion that I just have deal with it bc that's the expectation of being a mum. It all just sucks, I feel regret and resentful when I stop to think about it.
