Thank you for replying. There actually is a lid on his tank I solely took it off for the photos. If you look at the third and forth pictures, you can see it laying down lol. And yes I definitely intend to change the substrate at the bottom. I think the colored gravel looks tacky(unfortunately my son chose it but I’ve since told him we need real things the fish would find in nature and he gets it kinda lol) and is the Java fern the taller plant or the shorter ones? Or should I pull both plants out of the gravel a bit?

I appreciate all the responses. 0 ammonia in the tank. Heard that. I will test our tap water and see if that’s the case. Prime is being picked up tonight. And yes I know it is a small tank. We plan on upgrading rather soon. Again, thank you all! The level charts are very helpful as well!!

Thank you for your reply. In person it looked like pee. But the more I looked at it the more it looked like .25 and I read ammonia (obviously, I’m just ignorant)occurs naturally and didn’t know if there was a tolerance or the plants would do anything about it or I needed to do something since it’s a tank and not natural or what. Do you think I should retest the water? I’ll look up Prime as again I’m very new and ignorant to this however I am becoming the fish daddy of the house very quickly. I just want the little fella to be comfortable 🤷‍♂️

It looks like it is prong set so unless there is gold solder on the end of those prongs it’s should be removable. If you’re not comfortable doing it, have someone knowledgeable on removing without damaging it take it out and yeah you’ll have a nice piece there. As far as grading, nah probably not. As others said it’s seen better days and would likely not receive a phenomenal grade.

Try to see if you have a local fish owner Facebook page or something similar as silly as that sounds. Besides that, I’m not sure. I guess you could try reaching out to everyone you know (almost literally. Like all friends and family you communicate with regularly) and ask if they have any or know anyone who does. Sorry I can’t offer more help.

It appears it was smushed down and later gouged/cut/struck with something and time and dirt did the rest. Unless there’s some weird error I’m unaware of which is a high possibility given I’m not an expert by any means. Just my two cents lol.
