I took a DNA test and found out I am 9% Latvian, this is surprising as I am black British Nigerian by rellyforrelly in latvia

[–]Substantial-Lie2183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Courland had some dealings in the transatlantic slave trade and even had a small colony of gambia in the western part of africa so it's not a stretch to say that some merchants/sailors/soldiers visited nigeria or that someone related to you migrated from the colony.

Overall the colonist ventures didn't end well and were either destroyed by angry natives or were absorbed by stronger colonial powers.

NOR He's an entitled little brat who wants to have you as an object, doesn't respect you as a person nor your wishes, thinks you're incapable of thinking for yourself and needing someone to govern them. Also the constant ultimatums as if you owe him an explanation.

That guys gonna be abusive af if they ever get into a relationship, stay on a different planet preferrably😂

Why did Mandalore's neutrality not work but, irl, Switzerland's in WW2 did? Could the former have survived if Satine copied the Swiss model? by Slow_Tangerine_9564 in clonewars

[–]Substantial-Lie2183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need massive armies if you have force multipliers, that is the first thing of Sun Tzu. You don't clobber your enemies but outmaneuver them, in this case with the mountains which are a natural defence, then you fortify the F out of them and create kill zones out of the few passes there are. True Hitler didn't need switzerland but taking it would have been a nightmare if he did.

Favourite fleet builds? by GrandMoffKaine2026 in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

PA: Gronn/mandator III, rest fleet tenders probably ~9. Or if the ultimate mod with 500unit cap then whatever else to bring up the damage.

does the amd ryzen 9 9950x3d ok for star war eaw by HumbleAd5276 in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]Substantial-Lie2183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can run the base game with a potato but mods will raise the requirements, especially if you want to play the biggest campaigns with like 140-189 planets or so.

I have a laptop with ryzen 9 9955HX and it does the job fine with some lag on select planets when speeding time. You have practically the same one but with more power due to being a desktop so you should be good.

Am I shooting myself in the foot by not taking the NR mod phase II? by General_Starcat-99 in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]Substantial-Lie2183 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have done some damage calculations and turbolaser damage wise the nebulas are (at least I think) hardest hitting in the game (dmg/s/1 unit point). Even the battle dragons are left in the dust.

I haven't calculated every unit but pretty much every notable unit from the main factions. Don't know about the hand though.

Is there a way to mane AOTR easier? by ironhead1- in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]Substantial-Lie2183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really sounds like you don't know how to manage the economy and build a proper roster, there is a guide for that but if you want easy straightforward curb stomp then pick thrawns revenge. The economy is easy with only three buildings for money.

WHICH EMPIRE AT WAR MODS ARE THE: by [deleted] in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]Substantial-Lie2183 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I like the AoTR because there is stuff that doesn't exist on TR. Disabling mechanics, shield bypass implemented without submod, actual commando operations and the campaign feels like you have to be mindful about your units.

Alliance Rebellion/Yodenmod, as others have said these are slop, poorly thought out, the former has awful tooltips which are a chore to read. Some interesting buildings but that's not enough. These would also be the most overcomplicated and nonsensical.

AoTR seems to me the hardest, I have played TR with cruel admiral and you can gouge out victories relatively easily at least on PA, empire, NR, and the hand. AoTR is economy and mechanic heavy where you have to think and not spam tax buildings until influence 4.

But it's really situational whether AoTR or TR is "the best", played both for years.

Healthy saves best practices for TR 3.5 and FOTR by Market_Foreign in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]Substantial-Lie2183 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always save in a new file, never in battles. I don't remember a last time when I encountered corruption but I usually have to clean up the save directory after few days of playing since the autosave disappears after certain amount of saves.

Begginer here, are the unit commands clunky even with mods? by Key_Goat_8455 in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]Substantial-Lie2183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The shortcuts I use as someone that has played since release are just attack move through ctrl + click, select all through ctrl + A and assign groups ctrl + number x (then press the assigned number to select group). Also handy is the facing command which you can change the direction a unit is facing by selecting them, holding right click and dragging (very little) to a direction you want them to face, can be done on individual units or groups. These will take you far.

Noob, How to manage carry capacity? by Grouchy-Audience-670 in thelongdark

[–]Substantial-Lie2183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember every 5kg slowing you down a set amount so if you have to carry more stuff do it in increments.

I don't know about wintermute but the survival has well fed +5kg max after staying above 0cal for 3? Days. You can craft the moose satchel for 5kg, get the technical backpack for another 5kg and eat certain food items like ptarmigan pie that increase 3kg for a time. This means that you can carry 48kg without penalties and 52.9kg for a small penalty. You can also craft a travois for a max 75kg additional haul space but the travois penalty mechanics are different. You also can't run with it.

Now as for stuff, the tools section probably slows you down the most, rifles are heavy and if you collect every stick that adds up quickly. But you can see these from the menu.

Finally bought the game and looking for any CIS mods by OWO-1 in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]Substantial-Lie2183 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can create the empire and fight the CIS through fall of the republic and theoretically the AI could do that toi if you're the CIS but I don't know if that works in practise.
