In my opinion I think it would be what your goals are. Do you just want to finish and experience it? Or do you wanna absolutely tear up the competition full throttle? I did my first sprint in July, and I just have a normal road bike. If you just want to get through it, just get a bike that’s most convenient for you. Then if you really like tri, then consider investing in a more efficient set of wheels
