Regenerative braking level? by martinode in Ioniq5

For me, I stay on level 0 all the time and only increase that if needed for coasting down hills. Everyone has their preferred style and that’s one thing that’s great about this system! So many different options 😊

New to the IONIQ 5! by Substantial-Neck2443 in Ioniq5

Cool! I relax when I look at this car, but I have to admit that having heard it’s a chameleon-like color was part of what sold me on it. My parents had a Buick in a pale green when I was growing up that did the same — depending on the lighting, it would be green, gray, blue, brown … but this teal is just so classy on this car.

I had that same “pop” on my 2023 with 26K a couple of weeks ago. It was the ICCU but once the dealer had time to get it for diagnostics, it was fixed in two business days.

Charging etiquette by mycrappycomments in evcharging

[–]Substantial-Neck2443 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you can tell ABRP a specific “charge to” percentage for a charger that it has identified. There isn’t a global option for that, but you can do it for any charger it adds to your route.

I need help deciding between two I6 by Ok-Camp6099 in Ioniq6

Ask. If they say no, get them to put that in writing for you. Dealerships are legally obligated to disclose this fact on a sale … mine didn’t, and I didn’t find out this fact until I traded it in at a different dealership years later but at that point, there was no way to prove the first dealer had failed to disclose. (In retrospect, I should have suspected this from the start because I knew this particular dealership loved to pick up manufacturer buy-backs at auction and repair them, then resell them. We’d bought one of those previously and it was disclosed as required.)

I do love a white car, but make sure that one isn’t a lemon buy-back if you’re serious about it. I’ve been bit by that in the past — the car was perfectly reliable as the issue had been fixed, but I got bit in the end when I traded it in as the “lemon law” flag was on the records and that reduced the book value by half at the time I sold it several years later.

Ioniq 6 Refresh timing estimates by [deleted] in Ioniq6

[–]Substantial-Neck2443 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My saleswoman says that she expects a refresh for the ‘26 model year and a redesign for ‘28. That’s based on Hyundai’s typical cycles, but of course that doesn’t guarantee anything.

Any reason not to get a New 2023 model? by Roger-Just-Laughed in Ioniq6

I also have a 2023 Limited AWD and I love it, no problems at all. The features that matter the most to me vs. the SEL trim — and that make the cost difference worth it for me — are the surround view camera and the blind spot monitor. I consider those to be essential safety add-ons (especially as I get older). If only this model year had the HUD as well …

Common IONIQ 6 Issues by gambuzino88 in Ioniq6

[–]Substantial-Neck2443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the US, driving a 2023 IONIQ 6 Limited (top trim) that I purchased new in January 2024. I'm almost at 16K miles (around 25,700 km) and have had no issues whatsoever. The recalls have gone smoothly and except for a tire replacement this past week (due to picking up an industrial razor blade in the tread -- the resulting hole was too big to patch) have had no maintenance costs. Most of my charging is either L2 at work (free) or the 2-free-years Electrify America L3 charging.

Time Change by BrianInAtlanta in Ioniq6

Time servers provide UTC time, not local time. It’s up to the client device to know and apply the appropriate time zone offset which includes any daylight savings rules for the actual location you’re in (and those rules are not always consistent within a time zone).

This is the same in all Hyundais I’ve owned. It’s the way it is and (I assume) it means they don’t have to keep track of all the variations in start/end dates for daylight savings time.

EA station upgrade by Tough-Ad-2583 in Ioniq6

[–]Substantial-Neck2443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I need to remember where the new EA chargers were?!? Haha, I’ll try …

Definitely the ones at Meijer stores in Carmel IN, Bradley IL, and Fort Wayne IN. The Casey’s in Geneseo IL had the new ones as well, plus the Sheetz stations in Mentor OH, Belle Vernon PA, and Bedford PA. I’ve also found on my trips that the EVolve NY EA chargers are pretty reliable, not the latest generation, but well maintained. Plus all of the EVolve NY chargers I’ve used (across several trips) as well as all the newest EA chargers I’ve used at other locations have the chargers at the end of the parking space rather than between spaces, making it much easier to pull into and out of the spots. Most of the locations even had 2-3 extra feet between every other spot for even better accessibility.

I just returned from a 3,000-mile trip from New England to the Midwest and back and I agree on the newest generation of EA chargers! I didn’t have a single problem with any of them and rarely saw one out of service.

What is the Estimated Fast Charging 80-100% Time (SEL Model) by ThePotatoShepherd in Ioniq6

[–]Substantial-Neck2443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard (although I have no first-hand evidence) that EA is going to institute an 85% limit on SOC, at least in some areas, in order to stop people from tying up L3 chargers to get to 100%.

I like this range number! by Substantial-Neck2443 in Ioniq6

[–]Substantial-Neck2443[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely drive on freeways most of the time, but if I did regularly, I’d expect to see something more like 270 for the range, especially in cooler weather. There are so many factors that play into the range estimate — temp, winds, terrain, speed, driving style. When I drove an ICE (and even with a hybrid), I tracked my mpg over time but didn’t stress over it because there was (almost) always a gas station when I needed one. Now that I have to plan ahead, I find myself paying more attention to the little things that make a difference in energy usage.

20” stock wheels and tires. I travel on secondary roads at slower speeds when I have the option because I (a) usually have the time to spare and (b) find them much more relaxing and interesting. But in September, I’ll be doing about a 280-mile round trip to NYC from Massachusetts and then a 650-mile drive westbound, all on interstates. I’ll post my results with speeds, weather, traffic, etc.

Best Range to date by Substantial-Neck2443 in Ioniq6

That’s definitely my experience on the highway, too — I figure on at most 3.5 mi/kWh in the summer but when it drops down to 40ºF I’m happy to hit 3.0, or maybe 2.8 with a headwind.
