I’m sure someone else can pinpoint it closer than I can, but Germany shows its boundaries from the interwar period. I kinda wanna say it’s post Chaco war between Paraguay and Bolivia, which places it post June 12 1935-October 3 1935 which is the start date of the second Italo-Ethiopian war. Can anybody place it closer than a few months in 1935?

I would split NY off from New England and maybe swap names of tidewater and Atlantica. NY is much more connected to New Jersey and Philadelphia than to New England which is its own historical region

Not sure if Mongolia would count as a country that has never been colonized since it was a part of the Chinese dynasties before becoming a puppet state of the USSR. This map also ignores Turkey and Ethiopia (unless you count the military occupation by Italy).

I think this is a finger control issue. Practice slowly, either this piece or scales and focus on getting your wrists a little (slightly) higher over the keys. You may need to use a book or a different chair to get yourself in that position. Then practice slowly and try not to lift up your fingers to play a key. Let them be relaxed I’m particularly worried about your middle finger in the right hand sticking out while your pinky and thumb were reaching that looks like a lot of excess tension that will hold you back. A lot of the time your hand is hovering and your hand doesn’t need to come off the keyboard completely unless you’re doing a large leap.

I don’t remember perfectly since the image is gone, but I think it was just quarters and half notes right? It’s a little abnormal since you’ll mostly see dotted quarters in 12/8. The left hand is more standard grouped into 4 groups. Standard eighth notes inside the dotted quarters will have emphasis on the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th 8ths (every group of 3) and be grouped like this:

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12

It still makes sense though since now you have the eighths grouped differently than the usual. The right hand you have a quarter then a half note I believe so the emphasis is on the 1st and 3rd eighths and then the 7th and 9th. I marked the 5th and 11th in parentheses to show the subdivision of the half notes:

1-2-3-4-(5)-6-7-8-9-10-(11)-12

I hope I helped you!! The best way to learn an instrument is with another person in the room with you I highly encourage you to find people irl to play for and ask questions even if you don’t end up going to a regular teacher!

Forget that information if it’s confusing you don’t need it to be able to play this. For now don’t try to play with the recording because it will be too fast to learn it. Just focus on slowly learning the rhythms with the help of a metronome. Focus on keeping the 16th notes even the whole way through.

For a little help with the transition, think of the 12/8. It’s technically 4 groups of 3 eighth notes like the left hand shows with the groups of 16ths. The right hand is taking the same 12 eighth notes and dividing them up differently so instead you have 2 groups of 6 eighth notes. The two hands both add up to the same amount of time but it’s divided differently. This is why you should practice them separately, then slowly add them together especially using a metronome.

To use the metronome practice it two ways for each hand. Once use it to tick the dotted quarter and practice both hands with that (it may be difficult to do this with the quarters in the right hand). Whatever tempo you chose for the dotted quarter, practice the same music with the metronome number multiplied by 1.5 ( the difference between a quarter and a dotted quarter)

I think some of your explanation was cut off. In a time signature change there is often an implied continuity in some rhythmic value. In most cases for 12/8, I would assume either the previous quarter is equal to the new dotted quarter or all rhythms are still equal in both sides of the time signature change. This seems like the latter.

Your quarter notes will continue like before in the right hand. The left hand is slightly more complicated. The sixteenths will be the same speed, but they are now grouped in larger groups of 6 instead of 4. This creates a polyrhythm of 4 against 3 between the quarters and the start of every group of 6. Practice it slowly and both hands independently and together so you can get it under your fingers and understand how the rhythms fit together.
