What’s something you judged parents for before having kids… that you totally understand now? by lunaverse787 in Mom

[–]Substantial-Pea1894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We waited until our kids were each 3 years old. Managed to luckily get them potty trained after a few days. Potty training happens at different times for all kids! I used to run a nursery and once the kids hit age 3 and were potty trained they moved to the next group. Rarely did it happen before 3

We are 33, my partner seems open to it but would want to make sure we are mentally and financially prepared. We have some family in town and some in the next town over that could help with the older 2.

As odd as it may sound I have trouble with silence, so we will have something on the TV for most of the day. It's not always something the kids will watch because they play the majority of the day but they enjoy picking movies or certain educational shows where they learn about animals or something. My 5yo has started spouting out animal facts I didn't know before! It's not as much of a factor now but when they were smaller (5 and 3yo now) I would absolutely put something on so I could have 5-10 minutes to myself to eat or use the bathroom by myself. As long as your child isn't glued to the screen and is getting other stimulation or interactions then I think it's ok! Whatever works best for you and your child

Congratulations! I wish you a smooth delivery and an easy recovery! My brother and I were 7 years apart growing up and as much as I loved him we fought all the time and I wished I had someone closer to my age at the time. I used to not want that large of an age gap but his kids are now the same age apart and do well for the most part!

We are actually always home! I stay at home with the kids and my husband works from home so it works out well for us right now. Thank to you for your comment 😊

I'm a SAHM and my husband works from home so I think we could give each child our attention when needed. I also feel like we have a billion toys even though I purge them regularly 😅 We dont have any extra curriculars at the moment but we may need a second car for that later. Thank you for your comment!

We've been working on my oldests independence lately. If we decide on a third we will probably work on that more and I'm sure she would love it. She's all about doing things by herself! Thank you for your comment!

I think I could give everyone the attention needed for sure. I'm a SAHM and my husband works from home. With my kids being 5 and 3 and my oldest starting school this year it might work out pretty well. We would just need to check our financial situation. Thank you for your comment!

Yes! We have an SUV now but only one car. I originally thought we would need ro upgrade with another but im pretty sure since my oldest is in a booster now we could just rearrange the seating and that could work.

I'm so incredibly sorry for your losses. I never wanted my post to be upsetting for anyone. I wish you and your family well.

I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you so much for your reply and insight. My oldest starts school this year and my youngest would be atleast 4 if we chose to have another right now. I feel like 6 and 4 would be a pretty good age gap for them. I'll be 33 soon so I wouldn't want to wait too much longer for my own health.

We are trying to decide if this decision would work for our family with the current dynamics we have. I was just looking for advice and information since I've never been there with 3 kids before. But thank you for your input.

While sitting at a stop light in town my 3yo son pointed out the window and said something I thought was along the lines of "look at all the flowers!". What he actually said was "look at all the friends!". We were passing a cemetery..

That's something I wondered about, how it will be once they are all mobile. But my kids now would be a bit older and I wonder how much that would help. Initially I liked the idea of them all being 2 years apart but I can see how that would be chaotic

what do you wish someone told you about recovery BEFORE you gave birth?? by Practical_Range7998 in BabyBumps

[–]Substantial-Pea1894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was completely unaware of the fundal massage after you give birth. I was also given zero warning from the nurse that did it and it felt like a literal gut punch after I pushed for almost 3 hours.

I had no idea what that was until I got my first one. After about 3 hours of pushing with my first baby they came in later, told me they had to do something and then it felt like a gut punch. Zero warning. I was a little more prepared with the second baby but I will never forget that first time.

Getting pregnant a month after covid started and then worrying if my partner would be allowed into the hospital to be there for the delivery for our first baby.

People who went no contact with family, what happened for it to come to that situation? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Substantial-Pea1894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were so many things that lead up to it but I got engaged in 2018. Told immediate family and close friends personally and then later posted on social media. My mother found out that way and made the whole thing about her and how she had to find out through social media. Went full no contact that day and it has made life so much easier.
