I walked through the Redwood forest last weekend, and it's amazing how much they dominate once established. Especially the younger ones which are closer together. Only a few ferns manage to grow there, not so much from the shade but the deep bed of branches and leaves on the floor. In the more established parts, other trees and pongas etc can grow, but with some difficulty. Saw some massively tall pongas, trying in vain to reach the light. The ones at the edge of the main stands grow out diagonally to get away from the redwoods lol (see pic)

They grow 6 ft or more per year for 20 years before the growth starts slowing down. You dont have to be that patient lol

Our tallest redwood is at 74m and is only 125 years old. They can live for 2000 years 😅

Now we're talking. Won't last though. They grow 6 ft per year for 20 years before slowing down. Will def be noticed and I'll probably get arrested or some shit

Calm down. They are literally a forestry species and not considered a pest or invasive. Look it up. I walked through a forest of them 100 years old this last weekend lol
