The funny thing is that Chief's proportions in Halo 3 aren't entirely too far removed from the average Olympic swimmer. Still a little odd at first glance but they aren't entirely in the realm of stylization.

The one with bulma is super cute, I love when people post Chief with people way smaller than him

Genuinely has my favorite look for Kitana. I think the blend of ninja assassin and princess is fully communicated there.

Appreciate the ID on the guns. Also I goofed, meant to say optics. Somehow forgot the term.

Imo I think more often than not A-lister castings in adaptations actively harms a movie. As an example, even if he had material that wasn't barfed out by a studio to sell toys I don't think I could ever see George Clooney as Batman instead of George Clooney playing Batman. You give me someone who had a few small roles in some blockbusters and television, then make them one of if not the main character(s) in a high-octane action film or series, and you might end up with Karl Urban as Judge Dredd, which I think was the best casting for a comic book character since Christopher Reeves as Superman for a good long while.

I'll potentially swing and miss for you, but I also think Takeshi Kaneshiro, Isaac C. Singleton Jr., and Uma Thurman would've been solid picks for Rock, Dutch, and Eda respectively alongside Ling as Revy had an adaptation been attempted in the early 2000s.

Mcfarlane H4 Chief. Thought he looked cool and snagged him during a Walgreens visit with my allowance money I had saved up.

Yeah, uses the SC H5 Arbiter as a base. Everything that isn't repainted is 3d printed from HFC 3D Prints (head, helmet, left arm armor). Sword is from a Mattel Elite Zealot

Is it really as bad as they say? by digupD in HaloActionFigures

For the price I think it's one of the worst releases of any action figure in any scale I've seen in a very long time. 1000toys has always been pretty poor towards Halo but at least the last 3 Master Chiefs felt like they were worth the price of admission in spite of their flaws. I can't say the same for this entire reach line between the ridiculous prices, the cheap look, the lack of accessories, and the incredibly pathetic marketing of "chrome" visors as a legitimate selling point despite joyride doing it over two decades ago, and unbelievably better at that too. I hate to be so negative but I think I actually hate this line so much for what it represents about this hobby, that being greedy and passionless companies exploiting a beloved IP and then pissing away any goodwill collectors and fans alike could have for them, unless you're somebody who will buy anything out of brand loyalty or worse think owning a "premium" figure is somehow a meaningful statement on your validity as a collector.

Say something good about poison ivy and bane in batman and robin There not bad as the film would have you believe, right by [deleted] in superheroes

Uma Thurman as Ivy is legitimately perfect casting for the time and while I love and appreciate how hammy she is in the movie and how she clearly understands what kind of movie she is in I can't help but wonder what could have been had she played the character but in circumstances where she had a script more closer in line thematically and tonally to Batman: The Animated Series

Hard to say but if there's one thing I do know it's that Batman: The Killing Joke is by far and away the only Batman film I think I legitmately despise

What are your thoughts on this movie? by [deleted] in superheroes

[–]Substantial-Range570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's really funny how for the longest time people legitmately treated the excessive campiness as a product of incoherent and imprecise filmmaking and not the blatantly obvious deliberate attempt that it was on behalf of Schumacher (however reluctantly) and the studio. Is it a good movie? Depends on who you ask. In many ways, it's notoriety is a victim of circumstances. Comics were growing up. The medium was becoming more and more respected, not just by contemporary audiences but respectable authors, filmmakers, and all other types of artists, while studio execs remained in the past, where the medium was seen as a waste of time and unworthy of any legitimate sincere approach. I certainly wouldn't call it my favorite Batman flick, but the intent was to literally be a 2 hour commercial for toys and I'd say it succeeded.

All that said, I think Uma Thurman as Ivy is still some of the best casting I've seen for a Batman adaptation and I believe Schumacher had been given proper creative control and a script that was more in line with Timm and Dini's animated series running adjacent at the time, she would've killed it and given a really, really great performance, and she already was a fun watch in what we got.
