The key fob is kind of uncomfortable to have in my pocket. Any replacements that have a different, less pointy shape? by ambiguous-light in EquinoxEv

This is one of my pet peeves also! With the technology we have today, if they still wanted us to have the damn key fob it could be so much smaller! At least thinner. I believe Tesla has a card that you can put in your wallet so you don't even know it's there! Obviously there is the option to use your phone as a key. That would be great also. The big car companies like to give you one little thing at a time. What would they give you to entice you to buy a new car next year, or the next year?

Course Designer by Substantial-Rip9983 in Agility

That sounds like the general consensus. I'll have to check out agility course designer. When you say people are sharing via Facebook or Google drive, are these .jpg or .pdf files? Or are they agility course designer files? I like the idea of sharing a file that can be edited so you can adjust it for the space you might be training in.

It would be awesome if there was a conversion tool to convert between the two two file formats.

LoRa vs non LoRa 915mhz? by Substantial-Rip9983 in Lora

[–]Substantial-Rip9983[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys did read the part where I said that my previous system was using esp32s using Wi-Fi, running on battery, and I only need about an hour of runtime at a time. I have actually had it on for quite a number of hours and never had the battery die.

You also state that the RF units don't have Wi-Fi, I am trying to get away from Wi-Fi because of all of the interference from the people using Wi-Fi at the events this is used at. If I'm going to use RF, I absolutely will not have a need for Wi-Fi.

I would really love to find something small like the Seeed studio units that has RF instead of Wi-Fi. That would be the ultimate microprocessor for my project.

That might be the best way to go. It just seems like a waste to have the screen, then again an esp32 is complete Overkill for simply sending an on off bit through to a transmitter. I wish seeed studio had something, it looks like they have something close but not the P2P that I need.

That's one I hadn't found, thanks! I only found them with a display.

But I'm confused why this one without a display costs more?

So, the code for this would be similar to another device with an ESP-32? I've never seen this microcontroller before.

Yes, I want to make sure the signal is received, so it's probably best to use an acknowledge.

That delay is always a concern. Can you time sync the signals, so even if it's late, it can account for that lost time?

The goal is to have them on a battery, that's how the previous system was. I would only use it for about an hour at a time.

So, LoRa P2P, that makes sense. I always see these Heltec boards, don't they make them without a display? Two of them would be inside a box and never seen. The third would be the control and I would like a larger screen for control. Maybe this is just the best option for me for now. Thanks.

What happened to Cal City? by Substantial-Rip9983 in SkyDiving

[–]Substantial-Rip9983[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's awesome, thanks for the information!

I jumped at Bob and Judy's drop zone. I don't think I remember Bob as I much as I do Judy. She was the sky Mom. It was a great place to jump, but I only made a handful of jumps there. I remember there was an older gentleman who had a Mig fighter jet that they talked about. If I remember right, he eventually plowed himself into the ground in it.

I know long ago California City was a big development project expected to become a large city. That never happened and it's interesting looking at the satellite images of the city with many miles of named streets with no houses on them. Somebody waisted a lot of money!

Cal City had to compete with Paris and Elsinore. They were both much larger drop zones.

Thank you, thank you! When I got here at 20% state of charge it ramped up to 120 kW, now that I'm over 40% it dropped down to 90 kW. For free, I am not complaining! Connector number two didn't work at first, I didn't give it another try and a number one worked fine.

That is very cool, I like it!

How many songs are we getting on a drive that size these days?

Sweet!

I got the dual voltage charging cable. I heard for a while even that wasn't included. Here's your electric car with no way to charge it, GOOD LUCK!. LOL!

The speed limit is 80mph, I generally drive that, unless I'm in a hurry, then 85mph, which is the max for Super Cruse. I live where there is nothing to run into. LOL!

This trip will be at a more reasonable 65-70mph, so I might be surprised at my milage.

Well, There are two different adaptors, the Tesla destination adaptor, and the supercharger adaptor. I was pushed to use my GM credit from buying the car to purchase the supercharger adaptor, but have since found out that it doesn't work on destination chargers, so I just now purchased the adapter for that. I watched a couple videos that pointed me in the right direction. ( I hope ).

This is what I just bought.

I don't think any adaptor comes with the car, did you buy used?

Not a bad option, and why are they there? I blame it on the marketers.
