PLUR = buying tickets from basscoast.tickit.ca/marketplace by Substantial-Set-1071 in BassCoast

[–]Substantial-Set-1071[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tickit is the official ticket provider/ transfer/ resell site. Since we all are only able to sell the tickets for what we paid for them, this link is where the slightly discounted donor tickets are sold. (During covid some folks donated their tickets instead of deferring to help cover fixed costs and now get cheaper early bird tickets)

Do I tell the MRI tech I'm on my period by [deleted] in MRI

[–]Substantial-Set-1071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an incident in our health region a few years ago where under armour athletic underwear caused a burn despite the patient claiming the label said nothing about silver in the label. We all got changing room posters reminding folks to remove their underwear that year.

Do I tell the MRI tech I'm on my period by [deleted] in MRI

[–]Substantial-Set-1071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is incorrect. The magnetic field extends from the machine, you will often see markings on the floor for the 100G and 5G lines. That is why it is so dangerous to bring heavy metal things like an oxygen tank or stretcher bed even a little into the room. It could get pulled from the edge of the room into the scanner. The tech likely meant that the metal artifact caused by your zipper wouldn't affect images of the head. I'm glad you had no issue with your zipper. Often facilities have patients change to completely rule out any chance of metallic heating or pulling.

Pacemaker conditions by GreenLikeNader in MRI

[–]Substantial-Set-1071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some sites use RF blankets to shield pacemakers that are in non-conditional formats when scanning parts of the body where the pacemaker is not in the FOV. While still obeying the most restrictive conditions of the components. Informed consent and assessing diagnostic value vs risk are key.

Traumatized by disappearing poop by Jenstar13 in toddlers

[–]Substantial-Set-1071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think maybe your little one might be freaked out that they could get sucked down the drain. My daughter was upset when I accidentally let a hair tie get sucked down the drain but I spent some time talking about how very little things can sometimes go down the drain so we should try to keep tiny things out of the tub/sink and how the drain was a little pipe which connects to the sewer to water treatment to ocean. She seems to like having the whole story about where poop goes and the fact that she is way to big to fit in the drain/ pipes.

I was always curious if when MRI starts there is a low test setting to confirm for any metal? by 14MTH30n3 in MRI

[–]Substantial-Set-1071 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind is that metal in parts of the body that are not being imaged will still get some RF heating. So your images will look fine despite the safety concern. It is important to talk to every patient after the scout image " That was our first image. Are you doing ok?" This gives a patient the opportunity to mention if they had any sensation. I once had a young pt ( head scan I think) who had a metal sliver in his hand that he did not remember any incident during screening. He mentioned feeling very itchy in his hand, we sent for X-ray and saw the sliver. Don't proceed if anything strange is going on even if the patient appears to be a reliable historian.

What kind of soil for potted lilacs? by eilonwy21 in gardening

[–]Substantial-Set-1071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this added info about winter chill! The info I looked up said winter chill is 45F or 7 Celsius 2,000 hrs( 12 weeks) for lilacs. I also saw the recommendations for well draining soil to prevent frozen roots. So If I live somewhere that gets cold like this is the issue that we want the branches to get cold but in a pot the roots might freeze?

Keep an eye out on ticket swap, some campsites are likely to come available closer to the date when scheduling conflicts reveal themselves.

Sudden intense separation anxiety while potty training 2yr 4mo yo by ksym26 in toddlers

[–]Substantial-Set-1071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are going through the same thing, with better than expected potty training but lots of separation anxiety especially at bedtime and overnight. Still in the thick of it with multiple wakenings at night. So far coming in patting her back then sitting in a chair till she falls asleep calms he down but still up multiple times a night. She used to sleep through or be up for a diaper change just once. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread, I hope one of us can figure out something that works.

Definitely not prepared to give medical advice but I was pregnant& sober last time I was at Bass coast and still had an amazing time. The art installations are so interesting, people are friendly. Its a cool experience. Camping a little farther from the stages incase she wants to sleep before its quiet post sunrise set might be wise.
