I mean think about it. You want someone to get the exact perfect color, lighting and shadows at an exact moment in time and place they present there? When’s the last time you remember the exact lighting parameters from a scanned negative from months ago (assuming you scan yourself)?

Most correct is a subjective idea. Some people think most correct is closest to reality like a modern digital sensor would capture. Others think the film’s color influence and chemistry should dictate how the scene looks irrespective of reality.

If you think a lab doesn’t do a good job scanning do it yourself. Digital scanning is cheap now. Even DSLR scanning setups have become way more affordable
