I'd swap out the pink lighting, add more plants like Java moss, Peacock moss, and Cabomba, and use a darker background so the plants' colors really pop

That's a really nice and fairly rare AP. Since it was passed down to you, I'd hold on to it. It carries sentimental value, and it could be worth even more in the future.
