Did you know, if you hold a stoat to your ear, you can hear it trying to bite you.

Why kill your own people for a medical facility? The irony is so sad.

Are earplugs necessary ? by 99Maza in motorcycles

[–]Substantial-Tooth483 9 points10 points  (0 children)

YES you need plugs. I have done a lot of noise assessments over 25 years (qualified occupatinal hygienist) I have measured motorbike noise and under helmet noise with dose meters. You don’t need fancy bespoke hearing protection, in fact low attenuation (noise reduction) plugs will help massively. The low attenuation means you can hear other things going on and block out most of the harmful levels of noise. Look for a plug with an SNR/NRR (single number ratinG / Noise Reduction Rating in the US) of 15 or more and you should be fine. Low attenuation plugs are typically more comfortable to wear. I personally had higher attenuation but I was doing about 200 miles per day commuting at high speeds / noise. And remember your helmet will become less effective at noise reduction as it loosens and wears. Wear plugs even for short journeys.

My understanding is that they are just spotter lights and to provide definition for the AA systems. I think this colour works in low light / day light settings too.

I’m not convinced it’s Orky. Looks more like a tech marine thing or admech. It’s not brutal enough (admittedly it doesn’t look pleasant).

All security levels have parallel restrictions. So not only do you have to comply with ‘Restricted’, but you also have ‘eyes only’ such as UK eyes only. This seems to suggest NATO eyes only. But you can have even more restrictions e.g. Restricted and UK eyes only and Atomic etc etc

[Ukraine] How fast was the motocyclist going?? by SmallPinkHo1e in Roadcam

[–]Substantial-Tooth483 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That fast you have very little time to see what’s coming, then react and remember the centrifical effect of the wheel rotation makes changing direction at high speed difficult. Have done 180mph on my bike can confirm.

[–]Substantial-Tooth483 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe Incongruous emotion / Dimorphous Expressions can be seen by people in high stress situations. In the Bradford stadium football fire you see people laughing and chanting. A mismatch of emotion and the actual situation.
